Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups with Smoked Sea Salt

On the white board at our studio, many of our clients are sharing their healthy holiday tips.  There are lots of great ideas, but my favorite is to eat lots of chocolate, especially the dark stuff.  Holiday parties are fun, but I often leave feeling a little bloated and sugared out.  This year my plan is to take a low sugar treat that I can stand next to and fill up on!  That's not exactly my plan, but it is nice to have a low sugar option.  I am, in fact, melting some dark chocolate as I write.  Let me share with you what I will do with this melted dark chocolate in order to turn it into something even yummier.  

Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups with Smoked Sea Salt

Ingredients:

12 oz. Dark Chocolate that can be melted i.e. chips, chunks, bar

10 oz. Almond Butter

Smoked Sea Salt

Small candy cups (can be purchased at a party store)

Candy decorating bag (can be purchased at a party store)

Process:

1. Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave or a double boiler.

2. Spoon the chocolate into tiny candy cups.  

3. Hold the cup and tilt it carefully to let the melted chocolate coat the bottom and sides of the cup.

4. Use a candy decorating bag to squeeze almond butter into each cup.

5. Spoon more chocolate over the top of the almond butter.

6. Sprinkle smoked sea salt over the top of each chocolate.

7. Refrigerate until the chocolate is hardened.

8. Eat
