Trainer Tuesday- What are some good methods to use when grocery shopping?

In addition to doing the majority of your shopping around the perimeter of the store, and making a list before going in there are a few other tricks I use while grocery shopping.  Make sure to never go grocery shopping when hungry will help cut down in impulse buys, items that may just appeal to you because you are hungry.  Also try to avoid purchasing items that have ingredients you can't pronounce.  Chances are that means the food has been heavily processed.-Keith

 

A good strategy to use at the grocery store is to start by doing all of your shopping on the outside perimeter of the store. This is where all of the fresh and less processed foods are. Another good strategy to use is to make a list and stick to it. You will not only save money this way by not buying things you don't need, but you will also be less tempted to by things that are not as healthy. –Sara

 

When I shop at the grocery store I always stick to a set list. That way I do not buy anything I shouldn't be eating or anything that will be a bad choice later on. I like to purchase chicken, sweet potatoes, frozen veggies, fresh fruit and nuts, among other healthy things. -Andy
