FT Food Bracket: GRAND FINALS

Tale of the Tape
Chicken Breast (3 oz): 3g Fat, 0g Carbs, 26g Protein
Broccoli (1 Cup Chopped): 0.5g Fat, 6g Carbs, 2.5g Protein
This one I should’ve seen coming from the very beginning. How many times have you heard me say, “You want to get lean? Eat Chicken and Broccoli 5 times a day.” It WORKS! Not saying anyone is all that interested in actually eating the same thing all the time but both foods do what they do EXCEPTIONALLY well!
Chicken Breast with its low Fat, high Protein ratio makes for an amazing Protein and Broccoli has a great Carb ratio, but also has just a great ratio in general. As I’ve said in past posts Broccoli’s macronutrient ratio is on par with no one. It is as close to a perfect ratio as you’re going to find.
Micronutrients probably favor Broccoli as well. Chicken Breast has less micronutrients but does a real good job with the nutrients it does have, if you remember that is the reason it was able to beat zucchini. Here though, Broccoli has a ton of vitamin K and C with 245% and 135% respectively, where zucchini didn’t have a lot of anything. Broccoli also possesses over 20 different micronutrients, whereas Chicken has much less.
In terms of additional health benefits I have to side with Broccoli due to its ability to help fight cancer.
Chicken Breast would win in the Protein department as it’s a complete Protein and Broccoli isn’t but if you were on a desert island and could only eat one, you would want Broccoli as you can sustain yourself longer on the mix of macronutrients so ultimately, as good as Chicken Breast is, Broccoli is just too much of a powerhouse.
