5 Ways to Keep You MOVING this summer!

Summer is officially here!  That means it’s HOT and as much as you want to sit inside and stay cool, it’s the perfect opportunity to get outside and MOVE more! There are an endless amount of advantages to getting outside and moving more this summer. For the most part we spend way too much of our days cooped up inside at work, sitting at a desk, or stuck inside attached to our technology. Getting outside means increased Vitamin D, a nice tan, and bigger smiles all around J

Here at Fitness Together you’ve definitely heard one of us mention to increase your cardio in order to get to your goals in a timely manner. We know how hard it can be for you to get your cardio in so here are 5 easy ways to sneak in some extra exercise in your day:

  1. Go for a walk during your lunch break

After sitting down for most of your morning it’s extremely beneficial to get moving during your lunch break. It helps divide the time you spend sitting at work and helps get your blood flowing. If you can get outside and go for a walk during your lunch break, go for it! It helps to get some co-workers to tag along to hold each other accountable.

 

  1. Bike or walk to close by errands

I know this isn’t possible with all your errands, but for the ones you can grab a bike or go for a walk. Changing your commute for things you already plan on doing is a fantastic way to get expend more calories through your day and you still get to cross some things off your To-Do list!

 

  1. Take a family walk after dinner

Going for a walk as a family allows everyone to get each other’s undivided attention and ask about each other’s days. This sure beats one of you sitting and watching TV while the other plays games on the I-Pad. Getting moving after eating is a really good way for your body to use up all the caloric energy you may have consumed before laying down to sleep for the night.

 

  1. Play with the kids or dog a little longer than usual

Spend longer than usual outside either with a game of catch with the kids or fetch with the dog. It’ll be a treat for them and you won’t even notice you’re exercising. Movement that’s enjoyable will distract you from the term “exercise” and keep you going longer.

 

  1. Just keep swimming!

Whether you’re hopping in the pool, spending time at the lake, or at the beach – get to swimming! Swimming is an amazing way to exercise your full body without the sweating. Seriously, what could be better?
