Ezekiel Bread (1 Slice): 0.5g Fat, 15g Carbs, 4.5g Protein

Zucchini (1 Cup): 0g Fat, 4g Carbs, 1g Protein

Here we have a very solid starch Carb versus a Veggie (although Zucchini is technically a starch Carb, you need to eat about 6 cups of it before I begin to put it in the same category as a bread or a potato). The Ezekiel Bread has very good macronutrient numbers but it’s hard to compare that with Zucchini because we would urge you to eat Zucchini because its macronutrient numbers are so low, allowing you to eat it without doing much damage to your overall diet.

When we look at the micronutrients Ezekiel Bread only really out shines Zucchini in the Thiamine, it offers a few other micronutrients but nothing on scale with Zucchini. Zucchini offers more magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin B-6, and Iron per serving. You, in theory could eat more servings of Zucchini than Ezekiel Bread as well, so if it was even macronutrients (1 serving of Ezekiel Bread to 4 servings of Zucchini) Zucchini would obliterate it. Also, while we are on the topic of evening the Macro’s, if you had 4 cups of Zucchini it would only be 1g Carb more than Ezekiel Bread and 0.5g less Protein.

As much as I would love to see Whole Wheat Bread vs Ezekiel Bread in the round of 8, Zucchini just edges out the Ezekiel Bread based on the micronutrients, and the fact that Ezekiel Bread’s advantage in macronutrients is so minimal.
