(4) Turkey vs (5) Chick Peas
Mar 24, 2016
Tale of the Tape:
Turkey (skinless, breast) (4 oz): 1g Fat, 0g Carbs, 34g Protein
Chick Peas (1/2 Cup): 6g Fat, 61g Carbs, 19g Protein
I went ahead and decided to analyze the Turkey breast as it is the healthiest portion of the the Turkey and skinless of course, as all skin is loaded with Fat so on any poultry you eat, make sure it is skinless. Turkey is an amazingly lean source of Protein with a high amount of Protein. It has 34 times the fat, lol. Fun fact, it also has 330mg of Potassium which is 75% of what a banana has. So far Turkey has the best Protein rating of all the foods we've looked over in the tournament, so that should tell you how good it is.
Chick Peas are known to have the highest Protein in the bean family. However, with that also comes a load of Carbs, compared to regular beans of the same serving size. It has roughly 4 times the amount of Carbs. It also has more Fat than traditional beans. A half cup of Chick Peas really isn't all that much and lends to a lot of Calories if one were to just eat that amount. They are a good source of Iron though with 34% of your daily intake.
In the end, Turkey is just to strong of a Protein and with the high amount of Carbs and Fats in the Chick Peas compared to similar beans, Turkey gets the nod here.
Verdict: (4) Turkey defeats (5) Chick Peas
Next Match Up: (2) Spinach vs (7) Plums
