Tale of the Tape:

Sweet Potato (1 Cup Cubed): 1g Fat, 27g Carbs, 2g Protein

Green Peas (1 Cup): 0.5g Fat, 21g Carb, 8g Protein

This is a much more interesting battle than I ever thought. I have always been a big fan of the Sweet Potato because it's got a low glycemic index, a system that ranks foods on a scale from 1 to 100 based on their effect on blood sugar levels (1 is the best, 100 causes it to spike the most). However, based on a study at Harvard Green Peas actually beat Sweet Potato in this. On a per serving basis, Green Peas score a 4, whereas, Sweet Potato gets a 22.

Looking strictly at Marco nutrients, I have to say on an equal serving, Green Peas win because they have half the Fat, 25% less carbs, and 4 times the protein.

If we look at micro nutrients, the only real things to note is Sweet Potatoes 377% of your daily vitamin A, however, Green Peas does have an impressive 97% of your daily intake of vitamin C.

I have to say, in a shocking, at least to me, turn of events...I have to select Green Peas here. I will immediately start incorporating these little beasts into my diet.

Verdict: (8) Green Peas defeats (1) Sweet Potato
