FITNESS TOGETHER OWNER NOMINATED FOR MAN OF THE YEAR BY THE MASSACHUSETTsCHAPTER OF THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY
Boston, MA - March 2, 2009
The Massachusetts Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be honoring the two top fundraisers of the ten week Man & Woman of the Year campaign on May 30 at the Westin Waterfront Boston Hotel.
Beginning with a Kickoff Celebration on Wednesday, March 21, candidates spend ten weeks raising funds to advance the Society's mission. Every dollar raised counts as one ?vote.? The male and female candidates with the most votes will be awarded the title of 2007 Man & Woman of the Year at a Grand Finale Celebration on Wednesday, May 30. Candidates compete in honor of the Society's Boy & Girl of the Year, local children who are survivors of blood cancers and who are sources of inspiration.
"Participation in Man & Woman of the Year is a great way for candidates to gain personal and professional exposure in the Boston community," said Sharon Klein, the Massachusetts executive director.
Lifestyle Fitness Corp President, Steve Lichtman was nominated by his peers to run for Man of the Year. ?Both my mom and dad died from blood cancer diseases within the past four years, so this is very personal for me.? I thought, ?How can I leverage my business and personal relationships to raise money for cancer research? We have more than 200 clients at our three Fitness Together personal training studios, so I said, let?s enlist them to help us!?
"The idea behind Cardio for a Cure is that our clients and friends are raising money to help others while getting healthy for themselves. Personally, I have committed to doing over 100 miles of cardio during this campaign. I am asking my friends and business associates to donate $1 for every mile I have committed. Having many people contribute to Cardio for a Cure will help us reach my personal goal to raise $50,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I invite the entire public to join us in raising money. Call me or see us at our Fitness Together locations in Dedham, Norwell or Westborough, MA to sign up and participate."
