Eustress is considered good stress or more positive stress that generates within us a desire to achieve and overcome a challenge. While some events can provoke a good type of excitement a better reaction and perception of what causes us stress and what we perceive we are capable of doing about it is what eustress is all about.

Not all stress was created the same, stress is simply your body’s response to taxing demands. Eustress is the body’s positive response to a healthy stress that gives you a feeling of fulfillment or positivity. Eustress usually happens when there is a gap between what a person has and what they want to achieve. The idea or goal is just slightly out of reach but not too much to handle.

Eustress is a form of stress that can be used as a motivator rather than a distraction. It’s the good kind of stress that allows yourself to focus and get things done. It’s that feeling of excitement that allows us to focus on the task at hand in a short term setting. It’s the kind of stress we strive to get in our workouts when we are apprehensive about doing certain workouts but excited when we trust the process and see the benefits.
Eustress is a type of positive stress. It is often evoked during a challenging situation whether at work, home, in a workout. Eustress can emotionally instill inspiration and motivation when faced with challenges. Eustress can psychologically impact you by building self efficacy and physically can help your body overcome the challenge. Eustress is often experienced outside of our comfort zones, but when the challenge becomes overwhelming impossible to handle alone it’s usually when that stress turns negative into distress. Challenge yourself but know your limits, lighten your load and don’t take on too much too quickly.
