Ask-A-Coach: Posture: The Hidden Key to Performace
Jan 14, 2026
After more than a decade of training both myself and athletes. One thing has become clear : Posture impacts performance more than most people realize.
Not the stiff “ Shoulders Back “ reminder we all ignored growing up. I’m talking about aligning how the body stacks when you lift.sprint and especially breathe. When alignment is right, force transfers cleanly. Movements feel smoother. Strength actually shows up where you need it. When it’s off, the body leaks power and joints take the damage.
I’ve seen athletes break plateaus just by adjusting how they stand under the bar. Suddenly their core engages without cueing. The breathing opens up and their performance feels balanced instead of forced. A small shift in posture becomes a big shift in results. The way you carry yourself changes how you feel. Confidence starts to build and allows for a larger capacity. It's not always about physicality but also a mindset that fuels it.
Posture isn’t a detail. It’s the foundation
Sitting for long periods harms both posture and health. In an office, a sit-to-stand desk boosts both circulation and productivity.
