The best way to KILL your exercise program!

I’d like to let you in on a dirty little secret in my world as a fitness professional. I see this happening all the time, even to my clients., and especially to people who say they want to be a client at Fitness Together. But they just can’t find the time…

Guess what? These people will always fail when they try to start a new fitness program. “Finding” the time usually means that they push it down their list of things to do, or they let work get in the way, or they always end up doing other errands, etc, etc. The list of excuses I’ve heard could fill pages.

The problem with “finding” time is that people simply don’t make it a priority. Imagine filling a glass (that represents your day) with rocks, pebbles, and sand. If you fill it first with the little stuff, there will be no room for the rocks at the end. But if you put the big rocks in first, the smaller stuff will fill in around the big stuff. You can end up fitting more stuff into your day and still take care of yourself! That is called “making” time!

Make your workouts one of the big rocks, along with sleep and your family. Work may count as well, but get your training done before allowing work to consume you. Tell your family, friends, boss and co-workers that exercise is one of your “rocks”. Do you really think they will fault you for that? Would they fault you if you took time during the day to see the doctor? Is exercising any less important than that? If you skip seeing the doctor or your exercise, what happens to you as a result?
