30 days!

Mar 30, 2021

I took out my yellow “Happy Planner” and turned the page to a new month. Thirty days laid out in front of me in neat square boxes. Thirty days that will quickly fill up with plans and to do’s. With life

Love yourself

Jul 8, 2014

"Your mindset can often make or break your progress. Self-loathing isn't going to get you anywhere, and will cause you to throw in the towel early and cheat yourself out of living your best life. Think positively to get moving in the right direction--you are beautiful!" -Spark People

Two Types of Core Strength

Core Strength

What does Foam Rolling actually do?

What does foam rolling actually do?

Think of it as ironing out the wrinkles in your rumpled musculature.

Exercise for the bones

Mar 12, 2013

Stress applied to bone makes it stronger. When skeletal muscle pulls on a bone (like when you're lifting weights), that bone actually retains calcium and stays (or becomes) stronger.

As the NIH puts it: "Since bones are living tissues just like your muscles, they respond to physical activity by growing stronger. So it's important that you get plenty of physical activity every day. This stimulates your bones to increase the production of new bone tissue." Any load bearing exercise is good for bone density: walking, hiking, dancing, jumping etc. Examples of non-load bearing exercise are activities like biking and swimming. If you'd like to read further, visit the NIH website here.

Also, exercise improves balance, coordination, and overall confidence. Reducing the risk of falls is critical to bone health. Think of all the falls you prevent by practicing standing on a bosu!

Promise Yourself

Jan 16, 2013

“Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”
