Do it right!
Posted By: Vicki Raynor on 04/25/2011
I’ve always heard that if you are going to do something, do it right. I’m not sure if that was a quote from someone famous person or something my dad used to tell me, but it seems like every once in a while I’m reminded of that saying.
I find that not only do those words apply to the things I do in my everyday life, but they also apply to my workouts. I remember my trainer, Michael, saying to me one time “There’s no sense working out if you’re not going to do it right.”
Here's an example: Whenever I do a push up, I sometimes try to get through the reps by not quite getting as close to the floor as I should. And, of course, my trainer will notice and tell me that I need to go down further before pushing back up otherwise the benefit is not nearly as great.
“There’s no sense working out if you’re not going to do it right.”
Or when I pull weights but don’t keep my shoulders down, that’s a definite no-no.
Again, “There’s no sense working out if you’re not going to do it right.”
I’m always amazed at how much I learn from my trainers. And one of the major lessons is:
“There’s no sense working out if you’re not going to do it right.”
If I didn’t have my trainers helping me work out, I honestly wouldn’t know that I wasn’t doing something right, until I realized that I was working out for a long period of time and not getting the results I wanted.
