W(h)ine Free Month
Posted By: Vicki Raynor on 02/02/2011
Well, it’s more than two weeks since I made the “deal” with my trainer, Michael. As I mentioned in an earlier post -- no wine for the entire month of January. None! Yikes!
Can I do this?
In case you haven’t noticed, I love a good glass of wine -- or two! I don’t drink wine during the week. I reserve Friday night, date night with my husband, as my wine night. Nothing beats a great evening, on a cold winter night, in front of a nice fire, having dinner together and sharing a bottle of win. So for Michael to ask me to give up my wine for an entire month is asking quite a bit!
Challenge Accepted
With a bit of hesitation, I accepted Michael’s challenge -- No wine for the month January. Why did I do that? Am I crazy? Was he training me so hard that I couldn’t think straight? I can’t do that! What will I do on Friday nights? Geez! But since I said I could do it, by golly, I’m gonna do it!
Determination
That’s how I’m gonna make it through January without wine - sheer determination. I’m going to show Michael that I’m serious about my fitness regimen and serious about living a healthier life.
Results so far…
After two weeks -- without a single drop of wine, working out and eating right -- I feel great! And guess what? I’ve dropped five pounds. That’s right, five pounds! Woo Hoo! The look on Michael’s face when he saw the scale yesterday was priceless. He doesn’t smile often, but when he does -- that feel great too!
Note: Not only has Vicki lost five pounds, she has also lost 5 inches around her waist (accumulative June-January). The combination of hard work, dedication and realistic lifestyle additions are helping Vicki see continual improvements.
