March 1st starts NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH 2014; this years theme?..."Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right." According to the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics "consumer research confirms that taste tops nutrition as the main reason why one food is purchased over another." YOUR nutrition goal? Focus on combining taste & nutrition to create healthy meals. A great way to start- build a healthier AND more delicious salad. Salad's can seem cliche when it comes to healthy eating; trust me, I know, lettuce and some cucumbers just isn't going to cut it. On the contrary, some restaurant salads can pack on more calories than a Big Mac. The key- balancing a variety of flavorful ingredients, in portion controlled amounts, with the addition of protein to make a healthy salad that tastes amazing.
