You have heard over and over again that proper nutrition is key to seeing results from your workouts. Meal planning and preparation is the best way to ensure that your diet is on point; and it is easier than you think.
1. Plan out your weekly menu.Take the time before you go to the grocery store to write down what meals you would like to prepare for the week. Be sure to include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Once you have your menu set, make your shopping list.
2. When at the store, follow your list. Shop the perimeter of the store first for fresh and frozen foods, then fill in the blanks down the aisles. You will save time and money!
3. Don't wait until the last minute to cook. Designate time to prepare meals and snacks that you can grab and go. It could be once a week or once a day. For example, when you get home shopping, portion out snacks in baggies so that you don't have to think about it when you are hungry. Or, cook your breakfast the night before and heat it up to take with you to work. Prepare and package your lunches ahead of time to take along so you aren't tempted to stop at a fast food joint.
4.Spending the extra time up front with save you time in the end. If all of your meals and snacks are ready to go, then all you have to do is pack your lunch bag for the work day!
5. Treat yourself once a week. We typically celebrate with food. Enjoy it, but in moderation of course
