Fitness Together personal training success story!

I started training at Fitness Together in the summer of 2007. I had just started my weight loss journey, and wanted to continue improving my health by taking things to the next level. I have never been an athlete so it was important to me that I have someone monitor my workout to prevent me from hurting myself by doing something incorrectly.

Having a scheduled appointment at the gym has helped me stay on track. I consider this appointment just as important as any doctor's appointment that I might schedule. My trainer Jenny cares about me and has helped me continue to improve my health and strength. I no longer see a chiropractor on a regular basis and I am able to do things I have never been able to do!

I would definitely recommend Fitness Together Overland Park to my family and friends! They have seen my transformation. This was the best thing I ever could have done for myself!! With Jenny's and the training staff's continued encouragement I will make my weight loss goal with Fitness Together!

Upon retiring over four years ago I made the commitment to lose weight, and become healthier. After more than a year of trying it on my own, I hit a plateau, and was becoming very frustrated. With the encouragement of my husband, who has been a Fitness Together client for years, I met with the previous owner, Joel Harmon, who explained the program and what it could do for me. I started working out 2-3 times weekly at Fitness Together a little over 2 years ago, and have not regretted it one day! I confess I was a little nervous and hesitant at the beginning since this was my first formal workout experience. The friendly staff quickly put me at ease. With the support, encouragement, and expertise of my personal trainer, Jenny Schmidt (now the current owner), so far I have lost an additional 50 pounds and have improved my overall body composition*, but more importantly I have gained confidence. I like that Jenny pushes me harder than I would push myself and explains proper technique so that I get the most out of each session. I now receive compliments, like “You look great!” or “What ARE you DOING!?”, from friends and relatives who haven’t seen me for a while. I have more energy to do the daily chores around the house. After many years of focusing only on what the scale told me, I now realize a combined approach of diet and exercise, which includes strength training, balance, and cardio, leads to a healthier, more productive life. When I couldn’t carry my laundry upstairs without breathing heavily, I knew it was time for a change. I had seen ads for Fitness Together on early morning television because I wasn’t sleeping well. My husband and I met with the owner and got started together. Under the guidance of the Fitness Together trainers and with some sensible changes in my diet, I have lost over 70 pounds* and have gone down 10 dress and pants sizes*. My husband and I are leaving on a cruise and I can not wait to wear my new shorts, t shirts and bathing suits that I had to purchase for our trip. The staff at Fitness Together is considerate, knowledgeable and encouraging. The workouts they have designed especially for my husband and I have left us thinner, toned and healthier. I am a former teacher and have served the past 10 years on the Blue Valley Board of Education. Admittedly, I'm not a very athletic person so one of my biggest accomplishments in training at Fitness Together is not quitting. Being held accountable to keep a regular routine is a major step for me. I've been working out at Fitness Together for 5 months and owe my trainer, Jenny Schmidt, the credit for keeping me motivated. She has helped me find a routine and exercises that are personalized to my needs. I'm seeing results that I never would have accomplished through my regular walking regimen I was doing before I started at FT.

I've received several comments on looking so much healthier since I began my workouts with Fitness Together. I am building muscles that I had lost as I have gotten older. I feel stronger, more flexible and just healthier overall.*

I would definitely recommend working out with Jenny or the other trainers at Fitness Together. They provide a great atmosphere for working out. The size of the facility is perfect and not overwhelming compared to some large fitness centers. The staff is friendly and always make you feel welcome. Jenny is wonderful. She has taken the time to get to know me and has tailored my program to my specific needs. I know that she is making sure I'm doing the exercises correctly to see maximum results and avoid injury. Her professional knowledge makes me feel confident this is worth the investment. And on a personal level, I know she really cares and wants to see me succeed in reaching my fitness goals.

I was very hesitant to get started with Fitness Together. Even when I started with Fitness Together, I was very nervous. Almost immediately, I was comfortable with the 1on1 training. I feel better and stronger.
