Upon retiring over four years ago I made the commitment to lose weight, and become healthier. After more than a year of trying it on my own, I hit a plateau, and was becoming very frustrated. With the encouragement of my husband, who has been a Fitness Together client for years, I met with the previous owner, Joel Harmon, who explained the program and what it could do for me. I started working out 2-3 times weekly at Fitness Together a little over 2 years ago, and have not regretted it one day! I confess I was a little nervous and hesitant at the beginning since this was my first formal workout experience. The friendly staff quickly put me at ease. With the support, encouragement, and expertise of my personal trainer, Jenny Schmidt (now the current owner), so far I have lost an additional 50 pounds and have improved my overall body composition*, but more importantly I have gained confidence. I like that Jenny pushes me harder than I would push myself and explains proper technique so that I get the most out of each session. I now receive compliments, like “You look great!” or “What ARE you DOING!?”, from friends and relatives who haven’t seen me for a while. I have more energy to do the daily chores around the house. After many years of focusing only on what the scale told me, I now realize a combined approach of diet and exercise, which includes strength training, balance, and cardio, leads to a healthier, more productive life.
