Which Fitness Routines Help the Weight Slide Off?

  1. Interval training - Not for the faint of heart, or new to fitness routines, interval training is one of the best ways to lose weight and exercise. Rather than attempting to keep your target heart range going for 30 minutes, you can work out harder for 15 minutes and still see the same results. Keep in mind, this is not for beginners. Interval training is about choosing a cardiovascular activity, like running, and exercising in short bursts--or intervals. You might sprint for 30 seconds, walk for 45 seconds, and then do it again. By pushing your heart rate into a higher target zone for short intervals, you can burn the same amount of calories you would during a normal workout. To work this into your normal fitness routines, try interval training in place of your normal cardio circuit. If you usually run for 30 minutes, try interval training for 15 minutes.
  1. Cardiovascular activity - Cardio workouts improve your heart and lung function, as well as being the best way to lose weight. If you regularly run for 30 minutes a day, switch out running for speed walking. Speed walking works different muscles, and is still capable of getting your heart rate up. If you are already using the weight machines, change the number of reps. Try lifting at a heavier weight for less reps to see improved results. Muscle burns more fat throughout the day, so building some muscle is a great way to help you lose weight.
