The Secret to Improving your Health One Step at a Time
Jan 11, 2021
No matter your age, history with fitness, starting points, or physical ability or limitation, it's never too late to start on your path to improved health. Day-to-day health decisions have a tremendous influence on our long-term health. Getting healthy doesn't have to be overwhelming. It's about taking small actions consistently and living the life you deserve—starting today.
It’s like the Chinese proverb, “The one who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” You really can accomplish anything you want, overcome any challenge, move any mountain so to speak, one stone at a time. You just need the mind and body to do it. If you want to change habits and live a healthier life, you do small steps every day using your mind and body to help you make those important changes and stick with it.
Although sometimes viewed as separate, your mind and body are powerful allies. How you think affects how you feel. Conversely, how you feel also affects how you think. An important part of supporting improved health is taking a holistic approach to your self-care which includes regular movement and exercise. Soon you’ll notice, as your body begins to feel better, so will your thoughts. And as you start to think more positively, it will give you motivation to continue to take care of yourself with exercise and other healthy habits. It’s a feedback loop that gives you momentum to continue down the wellness path.
There are plenty of benefits of incorporating physical wellness into your self-care routine. Many people workout to lose weight and then discover they get so much more out of it than just a lower number on the scale. Not only do they lose weight, they gain strength, prevent injury and disease, build confidence, and have a more positive outlook. Taking care of yourself feels good!
Personal connections build that mind/body connection. The personal trainers at Fitness Together are experts at meeting you where you are in your wellness journey, helping you find a fitness routine that works for your body, and fostering a one-on-one connection through encouragement and empowerment. This way, you will mentally be prepared and ready to tackle new challenges and progress in your custom workout plan to help you feel your best physically and mentally.
If you’re having trouble getting started, or having trouble sticking to it, remind yourself of the rewards. Some of them are immediate, like feeling proud of yourself, and some rewards come with time. You might look back a year from now and remember some old habits you’ve broken (no more ice cream treats every night) and some new healthy habits you’ve picked up (Tuesdays are your days with your personal trainer!)
One stone at a time, we can move mountains, and it will be even better when we do it together.
