Client of the Month: February - Julee Khoo
Feb 26, 2020
Julee has been putting in a lot of work at the studio recently and her recent uptick in frequency and consistency have won her the coveted "Client of the Month" nomination...as well as some great results =).
Julee, from the entire team - we're so proud of your hard work and your recognition for your progress is well deserved. We promise to keep working as hard for you as you do for us in your workouts!
Q: How long have you been with Fitness Together, and how often are you working out both inside and outside of the studio?
A: I have been coming to Fitness Together since opening day in 2006. I think I was one of the first clients. Currently, I work out regularly with Erin, coming to the studio 3 days a week and one of those days is a double session where the 2nd session is a yoga work out so I do 4 sessions each week. On some weeks, I do five sessions and that's a real killer for me! Outside the studio, I mainly do a lot of walking!
Q: What are the results you've seen so far?
A: As an older client - I recently turned 60, I feel stronger and more fit now than I did 20 years ago. I am actually able to lift heavier items with ease, struggle less with any sort of muscle pain and overall, and feel that my muscles are toning up. I also recover from muscle injuries much more quickly than I used to! I can see the results as workouts progress because I am now able to easily do exercises that I once struggled with. Also, I used to fall down a lot and twist my ankle a lot. With Erin, we have worked on improving my balance and now I am not only falling down less but if I do take a stumble, I am better able to catch myself from falling.
Q: What can you attribute mostly to your success so far? What hurdles did you have to get over in order to succeed?
A: I am not a natural born athlete and I had never worked out at a gym before coming to Fitness Together. Initially, I was a bit shy about doing any exercise in front of a trainer - I was very uncoordinated to say the least. In fact, I actually fell off the treadmill the first time I got on it! So the big hurdle I had to get over was just to start exercising and leave the embarrassment of being a novice on the sidewalk outside the front door! The next hurdle I had to get over was to push myself into making my workouts a weekly habit - something I don't even give a second thought to not doing. When I was working full time, it was difficult to stick to the schedule but now that I am retired, it's now become such a habit for me that if I don't come to the studio, something doesn't feel right.
A key component to my success has been working closely with Erin to identify weak areas that need improvement - there are plenty! Surprisingly, it was my yoga workout sessions that often highlighted weak spots that Erin would then incorporate targeted routines into my "regular" sessions to improve on those weaknesses.
Q: What are some of your goals with FT moving forward?
A: To be honest, I don't have specific goals in mind. I never wanted to set any goals because I think it adds undue pressure on me. Instead, I just want to continue to exercise to improve or at least, maintain my physical health well enough that I can continue to enjoy my very active retired life!
Q: Anything else you would like to share with others looking to hit their goals?
A: However you decide to exercise, just stick with it! Eventually, you will see or feel the results and that will encourage you to work even harder!
