Q: How long have you been with Fitness Together, and how often are you working out both inside and outside of the studio?

I’ve been with FT since September of this year, and I have training sessions at FT three times a week. Before my 8-week fitness assessment, I’d say I was working out between zero and two times a week outside of the studio. Since my fitness assessment, I’ve really zeroed in on firmly sticking with my cardio plan and I’ve been consistently getting in 2 additional workouts per week.

Q: What are the results you've seen so far?

As of today, I’ve lost 15 lbs; and as of my assessment (a little over 3 weeks ago), I’ve lost 22 inches (total body...or “Sum 8 Site Circumference” according to the fancy terms in my assessment :)). I’ve also had really positive gains in my strength, flexibility, and endurance. My back squat weight/reps, bench press weight/reps, reach distance, sit ups, and pushups have all increased, and I was able to hit my short term goals there.

Q: What can you attribute mostly to your success so far? What hurdles did you have to get over in order to succeed?

I would attribute the success 1) to the coaches and 2) to the accountability FT holds us to. Having to put goals down on paper and having assessments to track how I’m progressing against those goals has been really critical to my motivation and helpful for me overall. I also can’t say enough about much it’s meant to have such an incredibly knowledgeable coach with zero qualms about pushing me to get better. Lastly, I’d say my initial nutrition assessment/plan was the exact jump start I needed to develop an easy-to-stick-to meal plan.

With respect to hurdles, getting out outside of my FT sessions to do cardio has been the biggest one. But it was mostly mental, and again, that’s where the fitness assessment came in and really helped motivate me to be more strict about sticking with my cardio goals. Also, Sam really got me to think about other interesting ways to get my cardio in besides heading to the gym and getting on a machine.

Q: What are some of your goals with FT moving forward?

I’m only three months into this fitness journey/transition, so I’ve got a ways to go before meeting my long term goals. But for the first time ever I feel like I’m finally on the right path. Going forward I’m really excited about 1) getting closer to a significant weight loss goal I’ve set, 2) getting increasingly stronger, and 3) really making the switch over to a lifestyle of total physical fitness.

Q: Anything else you would like to share with others looking to hit their goals?

I think I would just say trust your coach and allow the FT process to do what it’s designed to do. I have never in my life been active until coming on board here, and this experience has been exactly what I wanted and needed it to be. A very special thank you to Sam, Erin, and the whole team here!
