Feb 6, 2021
Our next client of the month - Mark Laponsky! A boxer in a previous life, showing everyone that with a plan, any obstacle can become achievable, no matter how big. You deserve this Mark! Keep up the hard work =)
Q: How long have you been with Fitness Together, and how often are you working out both inside and outside of the studio?
I joined FT in late 2019 and until the COVID restrictions I was going about 3 times a week and using my office gym on occasion. COVID put significant restrictions on me, as I'm a caregiver to an elderly parent, I don't have much room at home, and my job became busier than ever. Finally, in October 2020, Chris talked me into starting again and I was able to squeeze in 2 times a week. I was in terrible shape. Now, I'm a regular 3 times a week client and I've been running/jogging with my dog on our walks.
Q: What are the results you've seen so far?
My lungs feel better, my stamina is far better than it was in October ; my recovery time has shortened and I am more flexible than I've been in close to 30 years.
Q: What can you attribute mostly to your success so far? What hurdles did you have to get over in order to succeed?
Guidance by FT trainers. I used to dive into physical activity and overdo it or overuse particular muscles, inevitably injuring myself and interrupting my progress for months at a time. You guys have me moderating my expectations and sensibly working toward defined goals.
Q: What are some of your goals with FT moving forward?
Well, everything is going in the right direction. I want to continue improving my aerobic capacity and my flexibility. I am looking at losing weight now and hope to eventually shed at least 40 more pounds, while I work on gaining strength. After some weight loss I'll turn to agility.
Q: Anything else you would like to share with others looking to hit their goals?
Stick with it. Listen to your trainer. Tell your trainer when it hurts if it hurts. Talk with your trainer about your pace and changes in goals. The FT trainers are terrific. They want us to succeed and meet our goals. I feel like family with all of them.
