Client of the Month - Barry Brennessel | FT Silver Spring

Barry has been a long time client with Fitness Together - originally training with us 7 years ago, and coming back in 2018 after taking a little time off. What we are really impressed with Barry is his consistency! (We use that word a lot, don't we)? He is very deserving of this nomination and we are very proud of his hard work and progress thus far!

Q: How long have you been with Fitness Together, and how often are you working out both inside and outside of the studio?

I joined Fitness Together in October 2018. This is actually my second time around. I was a client 7 years ago. (How did those years pass by so fast?)

Currently I'm training 4 days a week, along with in-studio, post-session cardio, and then cardio outside the studio 2 days a week.

Q: What are the results you've seen so far?

I've noticed greater strength, flexibility, and balance. My clothes fit better. I have more energy. And my cardio endurance has really improved!

Q: What can you attribute mostly to your success so far? What hurdles did you have to get over in order to succeed?

The personal trainers at Fitness Together Silver Spring have guided and encouraged me, and pushed me beyond what I ever thought I was capable of. They're super knowledgeable about form, and they very politely let me know when my body is trying to find an easy way out during a routine.

My biggest hurdle was always finding excuses not to exercise. My second biggest hurdle is that when I did finally manage to get to the gym, I was doing the same things over and over, and just not challenging myself.

Q: What are some of your goals with FT moving forward?

I definitely want to keep focusing on building more strength and maintaining a healthy weight.

The ultimate goal is to be able to do several (unassisted) pull-ups in a row.

Q: Anything else you would like to share with others looking to hit their goals?

Be brave and be patient. At first, it might seem overwhelming, maybe even impossible. But soon enough you start seeing amazing results, and even have fun along the way. And then you hear someone say those magic words: "Have you been working out?"
