(1) Moderate Walking

Walking provides great cardiovascular exercise that’s gentle enough for most people with hypertension. Try to walk more every day, including while you’re at work. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, for example. And even try walking to your personal fitness training session if you live close enough!

(2) Gentle Stretching

Stretching can help relieve tension – while you’re at home or on the go. Did you realize you can do stretches at your desk? Make a point of standing up and stretching at least once every hour.

(3) Deep Breathing

Relaxation exercises such as deep breathing can help reduce stress, which can contribute to hypertension. Start by doing this simple breathing exercise once a day: Sit up straight and inhale until your lungs are filled with air. Hold your breath for three seconds and then exhale fully.

If possible, take your blood pressure before and after exercising. When you see the results, you’ll be even more motivated to stay on track with your personal training and any other exercises you do on your own.
