Why it’s So Important to Proactively Take Care of Your Health

Jan 18, 2021

What is the goal of Preventative Healthcare? The Aim is to be as strong and healthy as possible moment to moment as part of our everyday lifestyle. That way, when the inevitable happens, be it an injury or illness, we have the foundation to deal with it. We can move through health issues more easily and recover more quickly if we’re healthy from the beginning. In other words, we can proactively take control of our health no matter where we are on our journey.

You might think to yourself “Oh I’m not an athlete” or, “I don’t like exercise” or, “I’ve tried before and I will never lose weight” or even, “I feel fine, I don’t need to work out.” The truth is, no matter who you are or what kind of shape you are in, being physically active now will make a big difference later.

There are plenty of us out there who won't go to the doctor until we’re sick, or won't take care of our bodies until problems start to arise. It makes sense on one level. Why spend money on healthcare if you don’t have to? Sooner or later though, you will have to pay attention to your health—and spend money on it. So, the bigger question is, do you want to spend a whole lot of time and money fixing a big problem later? Or would you rather prevent it from happening in the first place or at least stop it from getting worse? Plus, and this is a big plus, if you make smart, healthy choices consistently, you won’t just feel stronger physically while you’re working out, you’ll feel better off the treadmill or out of the gym, too. Feeling strong, healthy, and fit is something you carry with you in everything you do, and it will change your whole life.

A great way to proactively take care of ourselves to set ourselves up for success in the long term, is to work with an experienced Personal Trainer. At Fitness Together, your Personal Trainer truly takes the time to get to know you, to understand your health history, assess your body’s limitations in depth, and help you create goals to live a healthier, longer life. This proactive care can enable you to get down on the floor and play with the dog, reach up to a high shelf to get our favorite coffee mug, and go for a long walk with a good friend—well into “old age”, unhindered by pain, lack of mobility, or depleted energy. We will live independently longer, and have the energy to do what we love every day.

Schedule a complimentary fit evaluation so we can get to know you and your goals and build you a customized training program to reach them.
