Three Myths of Hiring a Trainer
Apr 28, 2015
We all have a little hesitation when getting involved with something new – finding and starting a fitness program with a personal trainer is no different. It’s a natural response to want to research options and learn more about what’s available – after all, a personal training regime is an investment. However, what we hear isn’t always true. There are a few myths out there about hiring a personal trainer.
"It's a Long-Term Commitment"
Many might think that hiring a personal trainer is a long-term commitment. When in fact it doesn’t have to be at all. You can generally commit for as long as you want. Perhaps you just need an initial nudge to begin working out or maybe you’re interested in learning a new routine. Your commitment to your personal trainer can be for as long as you want. However, you will probably get better results and meet your goals faster if you have a consistent regimen with a personal trainer.
"You Have to Be Member of a Gym"
You might be surprised to learn that many gyms have non-member fees you can pay. So you and your personal trainer can work out in a gym as you see fit. And if big box gyms aren’t your style, personal training studios like Fitness Together could be just what you’re looking for.
"You Already Know How to Work Out"
This might be the biggest myth of all. Your personal trainer will hold you accountable. Sure, you can say you are going to do it on your own, but even if it is on your calendar, it’s easy to skip if you are going at it solo. However, if you have someone that’s waiting for you, it’s much harder to back out. Personal trainers can also add variety to your workouts and make sure that you are doing the exercises correctly. They will also make your workouts more efficient. Your trainer will ensure that you are doing your exercises correctly and will help reduce the risk of injury.
