Stay Active Outdoors
Apr 1, 2025
It’s that time of year again! The days are getting longer, the sun is out, and the temps are beginning to rise. Do we really need a reason to spend more time outside when the sun is shining and temps are pleasant? Absolutely!
Why not take your workout outside? Exercising outside comes with some amazing health benefits.
Health Benefits for Outdoor Workouts:
- Vitamin D - this is the fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for strong bones. Our sun is a great source and only 30 minutes of sunshine a day provides you with your daily dose.
- Less anxiety and stress - green spaces have shown to decrease stress and increase mood.
- Boosts white blood cells - interestingly, the phytoncides (airborne chemicals emitted from plants) help to boost white blood cells and reduce stress in our bodies.
Besides the awesome health benefits of being outdoors, here are a few more reasons to take your workouts outside:
- Improves mental health. Just think how good you feel after some fresh air and sunshine.
- Exercising outside can help break up the monotony of your normal workout routine, which could in turn break you out of a gym funk this time of year.
Whether you head out for an after-work walk around your neighborhood or roll out your yoga mat on the deck for a little stretch sesh. If it’s something that doesn't require a bunch of equipment, move your workout outside, you won’t regret it.
