I weighted roughly 270 pounds when I walked through the door at FT Northboro in November of 2008. I explained to Brandon that my overall goal was to be healthier and stronger and lose 50 pounds prior to my 50th Birthday. Brandon set-up a program for me, which included weight training, a meal plan and cardio exercises.
Within 5-6 months, last May after working with the trainers just 3 days a week, following the meal plan, and doing some cardio work at home I had lost over 50 pounds and accomplished my goal.
The staff has been tremendous to work with, always taking care to ensure your feeling well, but also giving you the push when you need it.
Better yet, I'm now another year into the program, I've maintained my weight for the past year, my waist size went from a 44 to a 36, I have just recently received a A-grade from my doctor on all my blood work, and was able to drop a blood pressure medication because of the weight loss.
For 20 years I thought I couldn't do it. With the right help, I am now 100% confident you can. The program and the people at FT Northboro have given me the help I needed to ensure I'll never go back to my old lifestyle. I am much more confident about my health in the future and now feel confident I will maintain this lifestyle for the rest of my life.
It took me 25 years to gain the 50 pounds, it took me less than 6 months to lose it, because of the support I recevied from the staff an trainers at Fitness Together. My name is Liz and I am a 41 year old mother of four. I have spent the last five or six years frustrated with my weight and the way my body has changed as I've aged. In my teens and twenties, I was able to eat what I wanted and maintain my body weight with very little exercise, but after the birth of my children that lifestyle caught up with me. Worse yet, I didn't feel well. I slept poorly, lacked energy, and felt unmotivated to change.
I called Fitness Together just over three months ago, and it was the best decision I could have made. In twelve weeks I lost 14 pounds, and four percent body fat. I’m no different than many men in their forties. I was fit and active as a younger man, but life’s responsibilities got in the way (not a good excuse) and I slowly began to gain weight. This led to an increase in risk factors for heart disease and stroke, as I needed to begin medication to control my high blood pressure and also had a cholesterol level that was creeping up to an undesirable value.
I realized that I needed to take back control of my health and called Fitness Together after receiving one of their flyers in the mail. I met with Brandon in October of 2008 and he helped devise a plan that included nutrition, strength and aerobic training, which would allow me to meet my goals for a healthy and fit lifestyle. I would work with a trainer three times a week, on the other days I would do at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity and maintain a food and exercise journal. In addition, fitness evaluations every 4-5 weeks would help gauge my progress.
It’s been almost 6 short months and the results that the staff at Fitness Together have helped me achieve are extraordinary. I’ve lost over 25 pounds and reduced my percent body fat from 29.2% to 22.9%. My waist size decreased from 40 inches to 32.5 inches and I have dramatically improved my aerobic fitness. In addition, my primary care physician has decided that I no longer need medication to control my blood pressure.
I’m grateful to the professional staff at Northborough Fitness Together for helping to keep me motivated and accountable in order to achieve these results. They clearly have the expertise and training to allow anyone to reach their fitness goals. I LOST a TOTAL of 19 POUNDS and 5.6% BODY FAT in JUST 12 WEEKS! 1. What are your hobbies? I enjoy solving puzzles and playing chess. Sudoku and similar puzzles are my current favorites. 2. What do you feel Fitness Together has helped you with the most? I have noticed that I feel good physically. The other day I was driving to work thinking to myself, “Boy, do I feel good.” An unexpected benefit from joining FT! Between the nutrition, the cardio and the strength training, I can’t recall a time in my life where I’ve been in better health. It took quite a bit of effort to stop the old less-than-healthy habits, but now that I’m acclimated to the new healthy habits, it seems easy to keep it up. I actually want to keep it up; and I never would have expected that during the first few weeks. The FT crew, Nick, Brett and Garrett, really push the importance of the nutrition, the cardio and the strength training while working with you and reviewing your accountability log. Sticking to the nutrition plan is the toughest of the three for me. The temptation to have another Coors Lite, another glass chardonnay, a big old piece of chocolate or cheese cake is difficult to say no to. Basically, I do the best I can and “cheat” only once in a while (and they catch me every time…). When I do cheat, I offset with extra cardio. I feel it balances things out. The end result, “I feel good!” thanks guys. 3. How do you think you have most improved since working with Fitness Together? Wow, this is a tough one. I think I’ve improved in a number of areas. In virtually all the measurements FT takes at the 6 and 12 week marks, I’ve improved. In addition to the increased number of push-ups, sit-ups, etc, and the reduced weight, heart rate measurements, and the like, I’ve also lowered my blood pressure. As required when donating platelets at the Red Cross, my blood pressure is taken at every visit. Since I’ve started at FT, my pressure has lowered notably. Good improvements across the board. Of all the improvements, the one I appreciate the most is stamina. Mowing the lawn, cleaning the house, climbing stairs from the basement to the attic, these activities in the past would take their toll, but now, seem to be non-events. Less than pleasant activities seem less daunting and the more pleasant activities are enjoyed more! Thanks again guys.

I joined Fitness Together in Northborough in January of 2009. My goal was to lose weight, but I have a thyroid condition and rheumatoid arthritis. My physician said it wouldn't work and would just be a waste of money. When I signed up you knew I could lose weight. You checked with my doctor, put me on a diet, and gave me a personal trainer named Tim who switched my exercise every day to work the various parts of my body.
So far I have lost 24 lbs. and my overall outlook has really improved. I can move much better. Tying my shoes is not such an effort anymore and my energy level has increased. Eleven months ago I knew I needed to do something. I was overweight, exercising at a minimal level and I needed help with planning a proper diet. What I needed more than anything was the structure for all this to happen. I received a promotional flyer in the mail and, as they say, the rest is history. One of the greatest benefits of FT is that everyone gets complete individual care and attention. This really helps to reduce the feeling of self consciousness, especially when I am working out. During my initial conversation, Brandon helped me to set my own goals which made me feel like I was in control of my program right from the start. Their guidance regarding nutrition is excellent. They are helping me to understand what makes up a healthy diet and how to balance the type and amount of food that my body needs. This is not something that will last a few weeks for quick weight loss, but will change my eating habits for the rest of my life.
The skilled and talented personal trainers manage to make each of my work out sessions interesting by changing the routine slightly every time. Their encouragement and enthusiasm is never-ending which plays a huge role in keeping my motivation level at its highest. I'm the kind of person that needs a lot of reassurance, which is why I chose the structure that FT provides. I am able to feel challenged and encouraged while working in a setting that is both personal and private.
Eleven months later, I'm 50 pounds lighter and 28.5 inches smaller and not looking back. I have more energy and smile a lot more. Shopping for clothes has become fun again. I am thrilled that I made the decision to join Fitness Together, Northborough. Since starting my program, I have shed 11 lbs and 3% body fat in just 6 weeks and certainly like myself a lot better than I did before! To be honest, prior to starting a program, I had become very lazy and really didn’t “think “about what I ate, nor did I read (or understand) nutrition labels, understand portion control and of course used every excuse in the book not to work out (busy, tired, hungry, etc). I am so thankful that the trainers, Nick and Garrett (Jonathan early on), are there to guide, coach, assist and cheer me on every step of the way toward the fitness goals I have put in place. In this short time, I am seeing great rewards with these phenomenal trainers, such as a smaller waist and inches in my shoulders, arms and legs, better tone/definition in my muscles, more energy and what I am most happy about is the much improved (and needed ) lung endurance. The trainer’s time, passion, interest in me and dedication is reflected in each and every session – if I succeed, then they succeed, and they really get excited for you! These two guys give me the drive, passion and motivation that I never had and I wouldn’t be where I am right now, if it wasn’t for them. I am really enjoying my sessions at FT and look forward to them each and every week. By having an appointment to work out 3 times a week, it keeps me focused and in a routine. Believe it or not, they also make the session fun – yes the abs/crunches and leg exercises, all of it. Don’t get me wrong, still very hard work but when you are enjoying it, you get a lot more out if it!
One of the trainers now has me running sprints on the treadmill – something I never thought I’d see myself doing since I was never much of a runner in my younger days, nor did I think I had lungs & legs to do it, but I do!! This speaks volumes to the work and planning that goes into each one of their clients sessions. Every step of the way, Nick and Garrett are right behind me cheering me on and simply there is no other feeling quite like that!
Another trainer told me I had the drive and determination to eventually become a client of the month someday. At that time, I thought he was completely out of his mind but something in me “kicked in” full force - - I wanted to see myself succeed so I put in the time and all the work, not to mention I am super competitive, so that helped too! :)
In my 9 weeks with Fitness Together, they have provided me with all the tools (cardio routine, nutrition guidelines/program and weight training) that I need to stay on track and steer the course with my personal fitness goals. Thanks to Nick and Garrett, I am in the best shape of my life! I have recently extended my initial fitness package for more sessions. I am truly addicted! Am hoping in the next few weeks I find out that I lost another 11 pounds and increase my cardio to 60 minutes before the month ends! My new stress relief now is doing cardio instead of eating chocolate or drinking wine, which is a complete 360! I am on a roll, and have not missed one single day of cardio since I started this program in March as I try to get in at least 35-45 minutes of cardio exercise during the nights I don’t train at Fitness Together.

I enjoyed coming to fitness together for personal training service. First and most importantly your staff are trained professionals. I always felt that they know what they are doing and are well aware of how to do movements with out causing an injury. They were able to answer all of my questions which was very important to me. It helped me understand the purpose of each movement and I was able to achieve the most out of every training session.
Secondly the atmosphere is professional and at the same time very friendly. You also kept me motivated. Your center is always nice and clean (it has Luisa’s touch).

Before I started working out at Fitness Together Northborough, I was overweight and really needed some help to initiate some life style changes. Without some outside assistance, I could easily predict that I would continue to procrastinate. It wasn't until I reviewed the letter I received from Brandon at FT Northborough, (I put off reading his letter too!) that I stopped procrastinating, called, and made an appointment. From day one, Brandon assured me that he would deliver what he promised.
I started my fitness program in March 07, following Brandon's customized diet and exercise program. In just 6 weeks I lost 10 lbs and 4 inches off my waist line. Six weeks later I had lost a total of 20Lbs! I still have more to go, but I know FT is committed to my fitness and health. Last December I had NO energy; I would crawl out of bed each day and fall back in at 8-9pm. I new I had to change something. I got on the computer and put in personal trainers for my zip code. FT came up. The next morning I called and got Brandon we set up an appointment the next day. We met and he asked me what I wanted and explains what FT could do for me. I handed him my credit card and said "This is the easy part" Brandon said "not many people can say that” What I meant was the money was easy compared to what I needed to do with my mind & be requiring of my body.
Well here I am 8 months later, feeling like a million bucks! I have my bounce back in my steps & the sparkle in my eyes all because of FT. I have Brandon in my head every morning. Every morning I have a choice, to stay in bed later have no energy, or get up and MOVE and have energy all day. I have my stability ball at the foot of my bed to wake up to and my tubing on the closet door to greet me. When working out I hear Brandon saying Com'on Deborah, MOVE It, PICK IT UP, ONE MORE, TWO MORE, When I'm walking I hear Speed it up, keep going. I'm off of all my medications including my inhaler...My lungs have improved 100%.
I cannot say enough about FT, Brandon & Luisa. Brandon very direct, positive and to the point and gets it done. At 6:30am while on the treadmill we were talking and he said 'People don't think about what they eat and do to their bodies, people to often give up what they want most for what they want now."
Reread that last sentence, it is so true. Luisa is so encouraging with her beautiful smile and words. Being in my 50's I have no desire to give in or feel like I did before I went to FT ever again. Physical Fitness affects every aspect of my life. Overall wellness, stamina, stresses of life, libido ALL have improved. So is it worth it?

I wanted to share some of my experience since I joined Fitness Together. Over the past 8 weeks working out at Fitness Together I have learned the importance of:
• good posture when performing each exercise routine
• putting forth a good effort to make each repetition count
• how each work out is design to work specific muscles within my body
With Jonathan and Brett reinforcing how to perform each work out and how the exercise is targeting each muscle group of my body, it has help me to maintain my focus on working the specific muscle, and how to correctly breath through the strenuous movement. Their support and encouragement helps me to maintain a positive and motivated outlook on why I am exercising – which is to gain back a healthy and strong body.
Currently the nutrition part of my fitness plan is still an area I struggle with and there have been days where I’m sure Jonathan and Brett could sense the frustration and disappointment I had as I would indicate that it was not going well. However, they do not lecture me, but kindly reminded me of where I can improve, what items I can substitute and what items I should avoid. Recently I had a discussion with Brett about my nutrition and my feeling bored with the foods I was eating and he suggested I buy a cookbook from Bill Phillips on Eating for Life. I appreciate this information and just yesterday got the book and can say that I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes.
I’m very glad I made the decision to join Fitness Together and grateful that the trainers are there to guide me every step of the way toward my fitness goals. I can see benefits, such as overall body muscle tone, a slimmer waistline, more lung endurance…and best of all…a better overall feeling of energy and well being.

Fitness Together has helped me make more careful choices when selecting foods. Over the last several months, I have learned how to keep an exercise schedule, have a healthy breakfast (rarely ate breakfast in the past), keep fueling with the five meals/snacks during the day and evaluate foods more carefully.

I love anything that involves being outdoors, particularly near the ocean. I like mountain biking and hiking. Beachcombing on theouter Cape is an activity I enjoy quite a bit. I am also interested in reading about and exploring aspects of the mind/body connection.
What do feel Fitness Together has helped you the most?
FT of Northborough has given me the external structure and motivation to eat right and take care of my body. I have always been pretty conscious of staying fit, but I never approached this in a comprehensive, planned way. Last fall/winter, after a relatively minor injury, I had a difficult time getting motivated to stick with an exercise routine, never mind establishing a healthy diet. FT presented me with a workout routine and food plan that I could commit to and successfully maintain.
How do you think you have most improved since working with Fitness Together?
I have improved most in the area of commitment and drive which has increased my energy level and positive attitude about fitness. I am surprised that both aspects of the program, food and exercise, have tapped my motivation and accountability to stick with it and achieve to such a high degree. I wake up in the morning feeling good about what I have accomplished and I look forward (mostly) to the steps I will take that day to continue on a healthy path. FT has helped me experience firsthand how integrated the mind and body truly are. A side-effect that I did not consider when I began the program is that I started to cook! Now I take full responsibility for this important part of living rather than leaving my nutrition up for chance and taking the easy way out—eating overly processed/prepared foods and takeout!
