For the last few years I had been hiking, but doing little else as far as exercise.  I have never been the “gym” type (I never liked the idea of working out in a public area), but also thought I really could use some weight bearing exercise (especially being a woman in my 50's).  I had been thinking of getting a personal trainer to work with at home, but kept putting it off.   Then I drove by the new Fitness Together in Morris Plains, which is just a few minutes from my home.  I stopped by on impulse one day and surprised myself by signing up for a free introductory session.

 

Right away I was impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere.  Working one-on-one is great and I love having the cardio room available downstairs for whenever I want to stop in on my own (and I do actually stop in).  The trainers are knowledgeable and professional.   They are fun, but still firm enough to push me when I really need that push.  I always feel as if they know how much I can do, even when I doubt myself.  They take the time to listen & respond to my concerns, whether it be about food issues or aches and pains.  At each session we do different sets of exercises so that it never gets boring.

 

When I began, my arms and abs were very weak, but I immediately noticed improvements, especially in what I was able to manage at home and my renewed energy.  I never was committed to exercise before, but now I make sure to schedule my weeks so I never miss a session.  I can’t believe it has been a year since I began and I have no intention of stopping!

I just finished my six-month assessment at FT and I can honestly say that the fitness level I have been able to achieve since joining has been nothing short of amazing!

I have spent years on every fad diet and exercise plan out there, none of which resulted in a sustainable result.  Then I decided that this time needed to be different. I knew that for me to make significant improvement in my overall fitness I could not do it alone.  I visited every gym and club in the area.  Once I visited FT I knew this was the place for me.  The atmosphere is like no gym out there.  The individual training studios allow you and the trainer to work one-on-one with no interruptions.  And the trainers are amazing!

I truly believe that the trainers are as equally committed as I am in achieving my goals.  They provide both the technical and the motivational expertise necessary to reach your goals.  When I achieved my goals that we jointly developed I am not sure who was more thrilled, me or the staff!

I never thought it would be possible for me to achieve the fitness level I am at today.  To me the most amazing part of it is how good I feel, I have more energy now then ever before.  I can honestly say that I am in the best physical shape of my life.  

I sincerely thank the entire staff and FT Morristown, I could not have done it without you.   Bring it on, I am ready for the next challenge!

I can’t say enough good things about Fitness Together. I would recommend Fitness Together to anyone who needs the extra push to stay motivated with an exercise routine as well as to anyone who does not like gyms.  I had both of those problems- I loathed going to the gym (it was anonymous, nobody knew me, I never felt that I was getting anywhere, I cancelled my sessions with the trainer…) and, in my early forties I knew I needed a place that would help me focus, push myself, and make fitness a priority. That place is Fitness Together.  The trainers are all outstanding.  They know each client well, they know your strengths and areas needing improvement (from which type of exercise you avoid to your diet pitfalls).  It is easy to stay motivated here because of the enthusiastic staff and the individualized attention they offer.  The atmosphere is relaxed, there is never a crowd, and you can request music from the satellite radio stations that you want to listen to while training. I have seen results and am so glad I chose to begin taking fitness seriously at Fitness Together.  Best gym in Morristown!! Five stars!

I have been going to FT for almost a year now and at age 40, I can say that I am in the best shape of my life.  I had always been active, but the team at FT helped me take my fitness to the next level.  Before starting at FT, I had just been "phoning it in" when I worked out - doing enough to stay active and keep weight off but never really progressing or challenging myself.  FT gave me the encouragement and tools to see what I was capable of.  It is just the coolest thing to be able to do more pushups than my 20 year old nephew.  I have a new sense of what it means to be in shape and healthy.  The increased energy and confidence positively affects all areas of my life and dropping a dress size was just icing on the cake.        

This is not your typical gym - the private, one-on-one attention provides a non-judgmental and positive environment in which to reach your fitness goals.  We're all different, and there is no one size fits all program.  Fitness Together listens to what you want to achieve and puts a plan together to help you get there.    

They'll be your cheerleader and also give you that push when you need it.  They are sincerely invested in your success.  I take comfort knowing I am with a team of trained and degreed professionals who listen to my goals and help me put plan into action.   I value my friendship with the team at FT Morristown, and as I approach my 41st birthday, I am looking forward to seeing what new fitness goals they can help me achieve.

Fitness Together has been instrumental in helping me achieve my goals. The staff at FT really listens and genuinely cares about their clients. The individual training studios allow you to receive attention and privacy that are not possible at a conventional gym.  In addition, every workout is unique.  Not only do the trainers stay informed on the latest fitness information and equipment, they implement them into your workout. I never know what to expect and have never been bored! 

When I started at Fitness Together 3 years ago, I considered myself to be in pretty good shape.  Since then, with the help and advice of the trainers there, I have become faster, stronger and have run two half-marathons and one marathon. I have also noticed that I don’t get injured as often. That means I can run more, which makes me happy!

Fitness Together for me is an investment in my life.  Before joining the team at FT I was 360 pounds and traveling on a very dangerous road.  My waist size was a staggering 54 and bending down to tie my own shoes left me out of breathe.  I would sleep 8-10 hours a night and wake up like I had never gone to sleep.  These are days I will never forget.  Now, after working with FT for the past 2 years plus I have lost 92 pounds and my waist size is a 38.  Recently, I completed my first tri-athlon and half marathon.  Fitness Together has changed my life not only physically but mentally and professionally as well.  This experience has enabled me to pursue career dreams that I was never able to do because of my physical condition.  I look at life differently now.  I eat to live not live to eat.  I also consider the staff at FT my friends.  They are there to listen, talk and discuss anything that may be on my mind.  Very simply….Thank you for saving my life.

One of the most life changing decisions I have ever made was making the phone call to Fitness Together to begin an exercise program.  I suffer from fibromyalgia and was having difficulty with balance, strength, stamina and frankly motivating myself to get out of bed on some particularly rough days.

When I arrived at Fitness Together for the first time I was nervous, unsure, and terrified of falling or not being able to get up easily from any chair.  The staff was friendly, reassuring and very knowledgeable.  They were familiar with my condition and developed a suitable program, all the while taking a real interest in me as a person.  There is nothing “cookie cutter” in their approach.

I have not only become addicted to my exercise program, but feel as though I have a new group of friends whom I look forward to seeing.  Since I have started the program, I have been blessed with a beautiful granddaughter.  Fitness together has made it possible to be an effective care taker and fun grandmother.  Every aspect of my physical condition and strength has been improved.

I feel strong and confident and my fibromyalgia symptoms are few and far between.  Thank you is too little to say to express what the staff at Fitness Together has done for me- you have given me back my life (and then some!)

I have struggled with my weight and have had an “all or nothing” attitude with eating healthy and exercising for my entire adult life.  I had finally hit my rock bottom when I joined Fitness Together in March 2009 and was feeling extremely uncomfortable with my weight and also felt subconscious about working out at a gym.  I was once again looking for a quick fix as I have always done in the past.  My plan was to join Fitness Together and work out like crazy until I dropped the weight that I needed to and then I would stop working out and continue with life as usual.  That quick fix mentality has changed over the last year.

I instantly felt comfortable the minute that I walked into Fitness Together for my first workout because all of the Trainers are so incredibly compassionate and really want to see you win.   They are all incredibly knowledgeable about exercise and also nutrition and take the time to educate you, which is both informative and also really motivating.   The trainers are so personable and down to earth that I really look forward to seeing them all because they make exercising fun.  They gently push you to reach your full potential.

The way that I view nutrition and exercising has completely shifted in the last year.  I used to see food as “good” and “bad” and I used to work out, but only for a few months here or there, in an effort to lose weight but when the weight didn’t come off fast enough, I quit exercising.   I was completely hung up with the number on the scale and allowed that number to have a lot more power in my life than it ever should have.  Now I eat really healthy and clean food and exercise 6 days a week, not because I am trying to lose weight, but because it makes me feel really good physically and mentally.  I have never been a morning person but I now get up at 5 a.m. to workout and really enjoy it.

My health and strength has significantly increased, as measured by my FT assessments, but more importantly my life has changed for the better.  I see life through a different set of lenses and my self esteem is so much better.  I love coming to FT and will be a member as long as they are open.  It is an investment in my health that is worth every penny!  And, by the way, the number on the scale isn’t nearly as important as it used to be, but I have lost almost 20 lbs. in the last year!
