Chocolate lover, Beer lover, Wings lover, but a bigger lover of being healthier, stronger, leaner and more fit than I've been in years!
I've been going to FT in Medford for about 2 months now. I had never used a personal trainer before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect or if I'd even like it. I had a coworker telling me about FT for over a year before I finally tried it myself. Well, I was sold on the concept after my very first workout. I knew it was exactly what I needed to keep me focused and committed. I love it. My biggest concern was finding the time to work out and being able to commit to a schedule. The trainers at FT are very flexible and we worked together to figure out how I could make it in there three times a week.
I love seeing the positive results on the scale, in the mirror, and in the way my clothes are fitting me. My goals were simply to lose weight and lose inches around my waist. Well, in 2 months, I have dropped 18 lbs! My pants went from being uncomfortably tight to somewhat loose fitting. I am now using the innermost holes on my belts as opposed to the outermost holes. I am greatly looking forward to buying the next waist size down, as I have not worn that size since college, over 20 years ago! My shirts are also fitting better due to the fact that I am shrinking overall. In other words, my goals are being met exactly as I hoped they would be.
I've always known it's not just about working out. It's also about proper nutrition. I knew I ate poorly. I knew I needed to change. But it wasn't until I made a commitment to FT that I actually began to practice what I knew had to be done. I started controlling my portions. I started eating every few hours to keep my metabolism revving. And while I still make some poor choices, I have made more good choices than bad. My trainers review my accountability journal and make suggestions to get me back on track when necessary. And that's exactly what it is - an accountability journal. I feel I am accountable to myself, my family and my trainers. Everything that goes into my mouth gets written in the journal. It would be a little embarrassing to write down a bowl of ice cream every night, along with a bag of chips and half a pound of milk chocolate. I still eat those things, but in moderation. Now if I could only get a handle on my hot wings consumption, I think I'd see even greater results...
I've had people tell me I look like I'm losing weight, and they've asked how I'm doing it. When I tell them the FT story, they invariably ask how much it costs. My response is always the same - how much is a healthier, happier you worth? Yes, it costs real dollars, but I look at it as an investment in myself and my family. I am taking the steps to ensure we will have a long, healthy, active future together. You can't put a price on that. But it's often a tough sell. I think people first and foremost have to want to make a change. Then once they take that first step and start to see results, they won't give the cost another thought.
To my trainers at FT, thank you. Although I am primarily trained by Allison, I have been fortunate enough to have had training sessions with Ray, Sarah and Gavin as well. While all the trainers have their own styles, and while I won't pick favorites (even if I do have one), I can honestly say that they all approach our training sessions with one thing in mind - me. They are all professional, courteous, knowledgeable, focused and driven to see me succeed. Really, what more could I ask for?
I look forward to continuing to achieve my goals of losing more weight and dropping more pants sizes. The successes I have achieved so far have me hungrier than ever to continue to work hard. I look forward to lasting relationships with all my FT trainers. Thanks again.
