Here are a few practical things you can do today to make you feel the way you want to feel.

Mike Ryan

It's mid winter right now and there is plenty of time to get into beach body shape from this point on. My advice to you is to breakdown your ultimate goal in to smaller goals that you can focus on a daily and weekly basis.
If you want to lose 25 pounds by summer time - good for you! However you will be much more likely to achieve that goal by focusing on what you need to do on a daily basis. Never take for granted the small changes that add up. Making a long term change for your health takes time. Eating an entire stalk of broccoli right now will not make you feel like you just pounded a red bull.
Here are a few practical things you can do today to make you feel the way you want to feel.

1: Unwind before bed and avoid electronics. Many of us already know that light before bedtime has a negative impact on sleep but if you absolutely have to use a computer before bed, download the app "flux". Flux is free and will dim your computer screen light when the sun sets. It's very cool and once you get used to it, you won't even notice it.

2: Don't avoid carbs at dinner. Many people will try to lower their carb intake in pursuit of lowering their weight. I am all for lowering carbs (and sugar) for losing body fat, however, there is a misconception about late night carb eating and bed time fat storing. If you are burning more calories per day than you are consuming, you will lose weight. Period. If you consume 100 grams of carbs a day, I would recommend eating a high percentage of them at dinner time. The reason for this is because carbs help your body produce serotonin, which in turn, helps you sleep.

3: You do not have to feel hungry all the time to lose weight. Unless you are trying to become Americas Next Top Model, you need to be satiated to maintain muscle mass and energy to function. Don't be afraid of foods like whole eggs, oatmeal, nuts and avocados that may seem like "heavy" foods. These foods are packed with nutrition and will keep you feeling full for as long as possible.

I hope these tips help you reach the healthiest version of yourself. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We are here because we love to help! grin emoticon
