    I was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i. My love for fitness started in high school. I was involved in sports (soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball), but was also very overweight. A life change of nutrition and a regular workout routine started a burning passion in me to help others as they strive for a healthier lifestyle. That passion brought me to the state of Michigan. I attended Cornerstone University where I played college soccer and prepared for a career in personal training. After graduation, I started working at big box gyms, before coming to the East Paris Fitness Together. The best part of being a personal trainer at Fitness Together is that I am living out the dream of helping clients pursue/maintain a better lifestyle (via strength, mobility, endurance, and longevity).

    In my free time I coach club soccer for intermediate and high school ages. I enjoy spending time with my wife (Alyssa) and dog (Cora) exploring all of the adventures Michigan has to offer.

    I have been training at Fitness Together since I graduated from college, and it has been a wonderful place to be. FT clients are the most wonderful people to work with! Getting to know clients and becoming a apart of their everyday lives, and being able to help them achieve their goals is definitely my favorite part of being a trainer here. I participated in gymnastics for 15 years which has given me a unique energy and perspective that I like to translate into my sessions with clients.

    In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities. During the warmer seasons, I love getting outside and being active. I like running, hiking, climbing, and anything outside enjoying the warm weather. I also enjoy listening to music, attending concerts, baking, reading, exploring new places, taking care of all my plants (I have quite a few), and snuggling with my cat, Ellie.

    Melcolm has been involved with martial arts (Tae Kwon do, wresting, boxing, Brazilian jujitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA) all his life. He has been a fitness professional for the last 5 years, working with all types of clients. Since graduating He have worked in clinical cardiac rehab, Division I hockey strengthening and conditioning, and personal training. I love being a fitness together personal trainer because I am able to devote all of my time focusing on my clients and their needs, while building great friendships, and achieving goals.

    In my free time I love spending time with my 1-year-old son Harrison and reading him Tolkien books. I also enjoy going to concerts and reading comic books as well.

    I have been training at Fitness Together since earning my degree from GVSU in the fall of 2019. Here I have established a training style emphasizing form and technique, while offering consistent feedback, coaching, and active encouragement, celebrating my clients victories whether large or small. I am passionate about helping clients not only reach their goals, but also enjoying the process that comes with it. I love to educate our clients about the importance of the small things and about the remarkable machine that is the human body.

    In the warmer months I enjoy outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, and fishing. I have a deep interest in music and production. I also enjoy clothes/shoe shopping, watching/playing sports, and spending time with friends, loved ones, and my cat.

  • I started working out after having breast cancer and heading to osteoporosis. My primary goal with FT was to increase bone density. I now have normal bone density.
