Cardio Before Breakfast?
Dec 3, 2015
You may have heard the term ‘fasted cardio’ before. What this essentially means is that you are physically exerting your body (a.k.a. working out) in a fasted state (a.k.a. empty stomach).
The theory is that performing low intensity cardio for at least 30 minutes in a fasted state will cause the body to burn more fat than doing cardio in a non-fasted state. Therefore, many people will go for a walk, or a bike ride, in the mornings before they eat their breakfast.
While some have had success with this approach, there are many factors to consider. A person’s body composition and daily nutrition are just two of the factors that will influence the effects of fasted cardio.
If you have heard of or are interested in trying fasted cardio, be sure and ask your trainer, and do plenty of research first. And remember, you will have less energy because your body is in a fasted state.
