Tell us how training at FT has changed you:

My goals when joining Fitness Together North End was to get stronger and become more flexible.  That’s certainly happened.  Also, I’ve had more discipline about exercise than ever in my life.

Why do you like Fitness Together?

Everyone at FT is friendly and supportive.  Initially I was a bit intimidated because the trainers are young, slim and fit and I am none of those.  I feared being treated as “the old bag” but instead I feel like part of the gang.  My successes are recognized and encouraged, which is highly motivating.

How did you discover Fitness Together? 

Google search.  I live nearby and have a long history of starting fitness programs and quitting within a few weeks.   I wanted to find a place where barriers of inconvenience were non-existent.. 

Tell us some of the results you have achieved:

The single biggest and best result is that I have trained two or three times per week for the past 11 months.  That has never happened before and is way beyond what I hoped for or expected.   I’ve also improved my overall strength and fitness.  My posture is better, my endurance is vastly improved and I actually have some muscle definition.  This month I’m especially proud of finally engaging my upper back in a meaningful way, counteracting four decades and hunching over a desk.

Do you do 1-on-1 training? If so, why do you like it?

Yes, 2 or 3 times per week.  I’d need pages to fully describe what I like, but in a nutshell, the discipline has been critical.  I feel like I’ve made a commitment to my trainer so get out of bed rather than rolling over for 30 more minutes of sleep.  I also like focusing on actually doing exercises, not having to remember what to do next or wondering if my form is right.  There’s always someone there to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Do you do PACK training?  If so, why do you like it?

No – not quite ready for that

What is your favorite exercise?

Anything, absolutely anything on the balance (swiss) ball

What is your favorite healthy food?

Never met a piece of fish I didn’t like.

What is your favorite “cheat meal”?

Fat is my favorite food group.  Anything with an unhealthy fat content is highly satisfying.
