Spring Break is over, and now it’s time to get back to work. Not just at your job or school, it's time to get back to work on yourself. It’s okay if you slipped off your diet or didn’t get a workout in during your vacation. It probably seems like it’ll be impossible to get back to where you were before vacation, but it is not that hard. Don’t let a little slip derail you from your goals for the rest of the year. Here are just a few steps you can take to get yourself back in shape and feeling healthy.
Assess the Damage
You may feel unhealthy, and that you’ve gained a little weight, but do you know for sure? Step on the scale to see the actual damage. It may be intimidating or cause stress, and you probably don’t want to see the number, but use it as motivation. Use that weight as your starting point.
Cardio will Burn Fat
Perhaps one of the best ways to lose fat and burn those extra pounds is through a good cardio workout. Make it a point to get a good cardio workout into your week.
Cut Your Portions Back
Over Spring Break, your eating portions were probably a little heavy. Now that you’re back in the swing of your routine, start paying attention to the portion size of each meal again. Keeping portion sizes healthy and appropriately balanced between protein, vegetables and carbs is an easy and effective way to improve your diet.
Drink More Water
It’s Spring Break – the sugary drinks were probably going down pretty easy. All that excess sugar can be a shock to your system, making you feel sluggish. The best way to flush that sugar and help yourself feel more energetic is to drink plenty of water.
Set Goals and Stick to Them
If you do not hold yourself accountable, nothing will happen. Set goals, write them down and stick to them. Remember to keep goals manageable – simply getting back to your pre-break weight is an achievement in itself. It’s that easy.
