PERSONAL TRAINING Spring Cleaning
Apr 7, 2011
We are a quarter of the way through 2011! Where does the time go and what happened to your New Year’s resolutions? Have you met the goals you created back in January or have they fizzled out like last year’s fashion? Well, either way, spring is a great time to get re-energized and revitalized to spring into action with a plan for some much needed spring cleaning and I’m not talking mops and brooms.
Some of us take time to dedicate spring to cleaning our house or going through our closet trying on shorts we haven't worn in years thinking maybe I’ll wear them this year. Why not use this spring to freshen up YOU? Clean up your eating habits, freshen up your workout routine, create new goals and intentions, and clean that closet out to make room for new workout clothes and sneakers!
Spring is a time when the earth begins to gift us with yummy fresh foods. The farmers markets start to flourish with vibrant colorful fruits and veggies of the season. Get creative and make a fresh salad with spring mix, apples, walnuts, and some light feta cheese, top it off with balsamic vinegar. For added protein grill some organic chicken to slice and add on top. Snack on fruits and veggies throughout the day.
Nourish your body with fresh juice by making your own with a fruit and vegetable juicer at home. If you don't have one I encourage you to get one. I make fresh juice every morning. One of my favorite combinations is, carrot, kale, red swiss chard, broccoli, celery, spinach, wheat grass, and to sweeten it up add apple. Such a delicious way to get nutrients from mother nature, plus your body can process and digest easier.
If your new year’s resolution was to start a workout program, good for you! I hope you have been on track with it and now would be a good time to mix things up a bit. You're in the habit and routine of getting your workouts in and if not there's no better time than now to get going. Your body does adapt to the workouts you provide it with. This calls for the need to add variety to your program. A great way to get new ideas is hire a personal trainer. Trainers provide fun, innovative, and safe workouts for you helping you reach your specific personal goals.
Earlier I mentioned goals, they are ever changing. You may have reached your initial goals you set for the new year, and now would be a good time to make new goals. Or maybe you didn't reach your new year’s goal quite yet. Set a short term goal that is realistic for you. Setting goals can be followed by intentions. Intentions can be very powerful if you use them daily. For example: Your goal may be to lose 5 pounds by May. Your intentions to support that goal could be the following; I intended to eat healthy foods to support my goal of losing 5 pounds by May. Or, I intend to exercise 5 days a week incorporating cardio and strength training to get me closer to my weight loss goal. Be clear with your intentions and focus on them becoming a reality.
Need an inspiration to turn that reality tv show off and get your bum off the couch? Get a new pair of workout clothes and sneakers. Shoes get you moving. It is important to get new workout shoes every 3-4 months, depending on how many miles you put on them. Add a little extra spring to your walk with shoes that support your soles, your inner soul will thank you!
Spring is not only for cleaning out your closet or garage but is a great time to spring into action of clean eating, new goals, and freshening up your workouts. Tie up those new shoes and get moving today. For added motivation contact me, Fawn Lofton, Fitness Together Mission Hills 619-794-0014. Follow us on our blog at www.betterbodysandiego.com
