Stationary Exercises
Dec 2, 2013
While most exercises are rooted in the idea of repetitive movement, stationary resistance exercises can be very beneficial when building core, leg and back strength. Forcing the user to hold a particular position for as long as possible, these often overlooked exercises can be much, much harder than they look.
Exercises like wall sits, bridge lifts, boat poses and planks all target your body in different ways. They may seem ineffective at first glance, but each exercise is remarkably impactful when performed over time.
Stationary exercises can be easily incorporated into circuit routines, or they can be performed between sets or workouts during a regular routine. This allows you to keep your heart rate up and target more muscle groups without interrupting your total workout.
