My Favorite Recovery Methods
Apr 8, 2013
At post workout….If you are experiencing intense muscle soreness and fatigue, it may mean that you are pushing yourself (like you should) but it could also mean that you aren’t doing enough to assist your body in recovering from your workout.
Workouts can put a lot of stress on the body. Here are a few simple things that you can do to help your body recover and rebuild to ensure a great repeat performance:
- Stretching
- 5 to 10 minute cool down
- Sauna
- Massage
- Quality Sleep
- Low intensity exercise
- Drink Water
- Healthy post workout meal
And here is the most important….rest!!!
It is crucial to give yourself rest days every now and then. I usually workout anywhere from 5 to 6 days a week…depending on what my current program calls for. I never workout 7 days a week. That’s not for me and it leads to injury.
If you are getting bored or you don’t feel like that you are pushing yourself the way you are used to, it may be time to take a rest day. Listen to your body and follow your gut.
