Well, that's about how it works for fitness goals as well.

Just like a healthy diet will result in slow and steady weight loss vs a crash diet that may take pounds of rapidly but not keep them off when normal caloric intake is resumed, the same goes for flexibility, strength and cardiovascular health. In each of those cases, there is both a healthy and an unhealthy way to go about things. When you take the slow route, you repeat the new habit over and over, until it becomes a part of one's normal daily activities, and hence, a way of life!
