However, after we moved to the Howland area, my wife signed me up for Fitness Together and I haven’t looked back. Wow…Where do I begin to explain what FT has done for me! It has literally changed my life! I am not only physically healthy, but mentally and emotionally at the best place I’ve ever been in my entire life! Who would have thought that incredible feeling would come from exercising and eating well? It’s so simple, yet seemed so unattainable when I began working out at FT.

The staff is unbelievable! They are most genuine and supportive trainers who have a way of personalizing every workout to make you feel like you can accomplish anything and keep your enthusiasm going so that you enjoy coming to each and every session. They push you beyond your own expectations on so many levels, but do it in such a way that you don’t even realize it’s happening, you just do it and feel so proud of yourself afterwards.

I really believe that people come into your life for a reason and walk with you for as long as you need them to. With that being said, I know all the staff came into my life at exactly the right time when I was fully ready to allow them in and change my life. Now, I never want to let them go or this feeling I have of finally being in control of my physical well-being. For me, it says…what an incredible journey this past year with FT has been. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

FT has been amazing in my start to get back to being healthy. When I started, I was at my all time low fitness wise. I couldn't stay with anything long term because I would give up too early. With FT I was given encouragement and direction to start and accountability to keep going. While weight was my number one motivator to start, I quickly changed my perspective as I could see myself getting stronger and easily doing everyday tasks that I used to need help with. “Before starting at Fitness Together, I had tried losing weight on my own. I’ve tried diets that restrict calories and/or certain types of calories. I’ve read tons of articles about nutrition, exercise and dieting but never had much success – the weight (plus extra) would always come back. I was never able to effectively put together all of the pieces (education, training, accountability and support).

At Fitness Together, they put together all of the pieces for me in a simple “no fad diet” plan. Regular meetings with a nutritionist got me and kept me on the road to eating right. Cardio sessions keep me burning off weight and improving my overall cardio health. Training sessions, tailored to what I like and my fitness level, are designed to nudge me to get better. The program holds me accountable with weekly weigh-ins. All of this with constant encouragement from a great team that makes you feel like part of the Fitness Together family, always willing to give you support and advice. I think one of the best things about it is that they are giving you skills and knowledge to turn it into a lifestyle that you can continue on your own.

I have more energy than before and now that I can keep up with my kids, we are doing more active things together like hiking and jogging. I no longer come home from work and just flop on the couch to watch TV until I go to bed.

Additionally, I battled sleep problems for a long time – waking up and not being able to go back to sleep, but now I sleep consistently better, which has helped me be sharper at work and allows my wife better sleep too.

I never liked wearing clothes that fit tight and always bought them bigger to hide my stomach. I dreaded going to the beach or participating in our summer pool parties. Now I wear the right size clothes (I had to buy all new ones) and am looking forward to our next beach vacation (one of the things my wife loves about the new me).

It has been a great experience that I would and have recommended to others including my family and friends. The results have been amazing and my wife loves the new me!”

Our workout sessions at Fitness Together have completely changed our bodies. In about four months we have collectively lost over 30 pounds and over 15 inches.* We have also seen a significant increase in our energy, strength and endurance. It is so convenient that we can work out together in the same sessions and that we have appointment times. “I recently decided to make a “life change” and was searching online for fitness studios in my area. I have done gym memberships over the years, but this time I wanted more. I needed “training” and I never really knew what to do at the gym. I knew I wanted a personal trainer to teach me what I needed to do to change my life. I was nervous about the whole idea since I’m not a person that “works out.” I lack confidence, coordination and stamina.

Since starting in May, I can tell you that I am improving in all facets of my fitness. I can’t even believe how far I have come already and how good I feel. I have already reached some of my short-term goals in just six weeks! I have definitely gained strength and confidence and I attribute this to the staff at Fitness Together. I couldn’t have made it this far without them. They help push me to push through and correct me with my form where needed and are all so encouraging. I joined Fitness Together at the end of December 2016. I was at an all-time high with my weight and an all-time low in my energy level. In the past, I had lost weight on my own many different times with various diets and exercise programs, but the weight always returned. Since I have joined FT, I have lost close to 40 pounds and 9.5 inches. I have not only dropped weight and increased my energy level, I improved my strength, balance and flexibility. I started going to Fitness Together on June 23, 2015 to change my eating habits and lose weight. I did not want to diet, but rather establish better eating habits for long-term weight loss and get my body in better shape. I am 65 years old and at the time I started weighed 221 pounds. My blood pressure was around 128 over 78 and I did not have a lot of energy and did not feel good about my overall health. The nutrition program, led by Kara and Lindsey, started with a very comprehensive interview to find out my dietary habits, calorie intake and current exercise program. With the information Kara and Lindsey gathered, they set-up a daily caloric goal, provided very helpful suggestions for protein, fat and carbohydrate intake. Their knowledge of nutrition was amazing and by explaining the purpose of having the proper balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates and the time of day you take them in, they have helped me lose a large amount of weight. The best part is I am not starving myself and do not feel like I am dieting, but have changed my habits to gain long-term health. The results to this point have been great! In four months, I have lost 27 pounds, around six percent body fat and have lowered my blood pressure to 118 over 72.* I feel better, have more energy and am confident that I have changed my eating habits for a healthier life. Kara and Lindsey are responsible for this change and I cannot thank them enough. I am continuing to go once a month for follow-up meetings and the great encouragement and knowledge they provide. At Fitness Together improvement is definitely possible. We found that the facility has the equipment and personnel that is necessary to pursue our goals. The instructors are knowledgeable and answer questions straight away. They are professionals! Fran had a somewhat different problem of balance when walking. She had a problem keeping her mind coordinating her walking. First, FT gave her strength training – followed by exercises in walking confidently. She is much improved!*

There is no reason to choose Fitness Together over the other gyms unless you don't like:

1) personal attention. 

2) trainers who know who you are and focus.

3) trainers that listen to you and strive to help you achieve your goals.

As a client of FT, I have increased my overall strength, balance and energy levels. However, the most amazing results came in a recent employee health screening. From last year to this year my total cholesterol dropped 21 points, fasting blood sugar 13 points and my HDL (good cholesterol) was so high it could not be measured. I have used other gyms and always seemed to just quit going, the appointments at FT keep me accountable and on track. So in summary you can use the other programs and not be committed, or you can make the FT commitment and see real results.

“I came Fitness Together for a number of reasons. I had been going to the gym regularly, and although I was stronger than I had previously been, I wasn’t seeing the changes to my body that I had been expecting to see. I started to feel that I was sleeping through my workouts and I had no idea how to take my workouts to the next level.

FT helped to get me to “the next level”. The workouts are always challenging. The FT trainers know when to increase the weight or reps. They get to know you personally so they watch how you are responding and adjust the workout accordingly. I noticed a big difference in my balance and strength during my first ski trip of the winter season.

The nutritional information was very enlightening. I often hear Lindsey in my head before I eat a meal. I have become very aware of the nutritional value of what I am eating. I also have heightened awareness of portion sizes.

One unexpected outcome of my FT experience was that my young adult children have observed my dedication to improving my health and as a result are more aware of things that they can do to improve their own health.
