My name is Steve Johnson. Exercise and fitness has played a major role in my life going back to elementary school. It all started with a trip I took to Chicago, where I would spend the summer with my cousin. The usual activities were in line for grade school age boys, little league baseball, summer camp, miniature golf, etc. However, I believe it was the night my uncle took us to go see “Conan the Barbarian”, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. I went home that night and performed what seemed like 1000 push-ups and sit-ups. I was sore for days! That created a fascination in exercise and fitness which later propelled me into a high school sports career competing in football, baseball, track and wrestling. I later moved on to play football at Fork Union Military Academy with future Heisman and NFL great Eddie George. I continued my football career at James Madison University, where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Over the years of working at Fitness Together, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients each with their own unique set of goals and abilities. I’ve worked with adolescence as young as 10 and adults well into their 80’s with goals ranging from fat loss, increased muscle mass, general fitness or just maintaining strength and coordination, as with one client I trained with cerebral palsy. Having worked with such a vast pool of clientele, I feel I’m able to draw upon a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Aloha! My name is Lonn Iwashita and I am originally from Honolulu, Hawaii. I recently graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a degree in Health and Fitness Promotion as well as received a minor in Exercise Science. I have also obtained my Personal Trainer Certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

Fitness has always been a part of my life through my involvement in a variety of sports. Through sports, I became passionate about all aspects of health as well as how the human body functions. I would always try to find out new training methods to find competitive gains to overcome any personal weaknesses. I had to find out what type of method was the most beneficial to me. From this I have learned over the years that everyone responds to health differently, both psychologically and physiologically, meaning, that there is not a set health or fitness plan that fits all people.

I want to help guide individuals to reach their specific goals and to be the best version of himself or herself. I believe the best project you’ll ever work on is yourself. Your health is worth the investment and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life if they choose. Fitness Coach - Personal Trainer

My name is Mike Thompson and I'm from Waterloo, Iowa. I received my undergrad in Kinesiology and Health specializing in Exercise Science from Iowa State University. I was born and raised in the Chicago area, where I found my love for sports and fitness admiring the likes of Michael Jordan and Sammy Sosa. As I grew older I competed in any sport I could, eventually joining the Iowa State hockey team.

My passion for strength training started when I was about 10 years old. My father bought a bench press and free weights for my brother and I. We spent most of our youth in the basement competing to see who could lift the most weight. From that time on I have been fascinated with how the human body can grow stronger and healthier from resistance exercise and training. This led to me pursuing a career in health and fitness.

I have worked with many people of all ages, from teenagers to the elderly and everywhere in between, to help them achieve their health and fitness goals. With this experience I am able to connect and help you achieve your goals, too. Whether that be training for a marathon, getting ready for a weekend hiking trip, or just wanting to be able to live a long healthy life free of pain. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
