When I first started to lose a little weight last year, it wasn’t by design. I hadn’t been feeling well, and I lost a few pounds without really trying, or even realizing that I was losing. I had been grossly overweight for years. Fat. Obese.

When I finally did realize that I was losing some pounds, and that my clothes were noticeably looser, I took stock of what I was doing that was different than all the other times that I actually tried to lose weight. That’s when I realized that I had begun to change.

The changes that happened to me were of all kinds. Some were voluntary; some were as a result of other changes.

I changed how much food I ate, of course. But it’s more than that. I changed how I cooked and shopped for food. I read labels. I recommend that.

I changed how I thought about food. Food is not my friend, my companion, my solace. Food is what I need to live. But food is also not the enemy. It is now just a small part of my day.

I changed my habits about exercise. I used to hate exercise. I avoided it. Now, I enjoy it. Exercise has changed me in ways I never thought possible. Becoming a client at FT was probably one of the most important things I have ever done for myself. I have learned to do amazing things. I lift weights, I stretch, and I build healthy muscle mass while losing fat mass. I am building strength, endurance and flexibility. As a result, I can go about my daily life far more easily.

Exercise has more benefits than a healthy body. It helps create a healthier mind. When I leave the Fitness Center I am on an emotional high. It lasts most of the day. The exercise has given me more self confidence, and I feel like I can do anything I try. Fitness Together workouts are specially designed for each client.

I changed my health. As a result of losing weight and becoming more fit, I no longer have to take medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. I am no longer pre-diabetic. My doctor says I have added years of health to my life.

As a result of these changes, I have lost nearly 100 pounds. And I have a few more to go. But I have the confidence that I will get there. My self confidence is at an all time high, and rightly so.
