    I came to Fitness Together as an unhealthy and overstressed person. I was in a downwards spiral and needed a lifestyle course correction. I also knew that I needed some hard-core support to turn around. My initial intent was to get a “jump-start” and then transition into a routine on my own.     I started training with FT South End in May 2009.  Since that time I have met my weight goal, reduced my dress size from a size 10 to a 4*, and my body toning is now noticeable.  But even more importantly, prior to my FT training I was feeling tired and sluggish.  After just a few days of training and improvement in my diet, my energy level increased substantially and has remained at a much higher level. 

    I train primarily with Colin and Taylor, and on occasions I have trained with each of the FT trainers.  All the trainers are friendly and eager to help me meet my training goals.  Although the training is tough, I enjoy the training sessions and appreciate the motivation I get from the trainers.  I like that the training routines are specifically designed for me and I like the variety in the routines.  I also like that my specifically designed training routine mixes in cardio work.  While I worked out prior to joining FT, I learned that I never pushed myself to the levels that FT has shown me I can handle

    I like the periodic assessments that are performed to evaluate whether or not I am meeting my weight goals and experiencing improvements in my endurance, strength, and flexibility.  It is nice to know that I am truly making progress.  I also like the periodic FT Tips that provide helpful information on exercise and nutrition.

    Carlos Grillasca
    Fitness Consultant/Lead Trainer

    Carlos brings a wealth of knowledge to Fitness Together in the disciplines of physical fitness. His certifications include yoga, pilates, martial arts, and weight training.  Carlos’ background provides him with the tools necessary to work with all clients. It also allows him to introduce his clients to various styles of fitness training, which always keeps the workouts new and interesting. 

    Having a personality that people gravitate to makes Carlos’ chosen profession as trainer ideal!  His goal is to see people succeed at their goal.  His workouts are focused, varied, and professional with a twist of fun included!  “Always learning” is what Carlos prides himself on.

    Hi. I'm Joe and fitness is my passion. I started working out and lifting weights in the basement of our house when I was 12, and I can honestly say it has changed my life. It not only gave me the athletic skills to be competitive but it also gave me confidence and discipline that has transferred over into other areas of my life. I became interested in nutrition shortly after starting to work out, so I decided to major in Nutrition with a minor in Exercise Science. I graduated from Virginia Tech in the fall of 1994 with those degrees. Needless to say, I’m a big Hokie fan! I started personal training while in college and obtained certifications with NFPT, NASM and APEX Nutrition Systems. I left the field after several years to pursue a more stable career in corporate America, but I always missed it.

    I ended up at another Fitness Together just part time to once again do what I loved. After a three years there, I took a chance and left corporate America to open my own studio here in the Steele Creek area in 2008. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I once again get to do a job that I truly love. I get no greater satisfaction than helping someone to change their life and achieve their health & fitness goals.

    Diane has been a personal trainer with Fitness Together since 2006 and was recently promoted to manager. She has a passion for fitness and leads by example. Diane earned her BS in education from Hofstra University where she was a competitive gymnast. She earned her MS in Sports Management and exercise physiology from New York University. Combining her competitive nature with a wealth of experience and a ton of energy, Diane motivates her clients to stick to their exercise program! When not in the studio, she is busy staying after her two teenagers, Carly and Nick!

    Chavanne brings a wealth of experience, energy, and passion to her Fitness Together Ballantyne team. Her work in health & fitness centers around proactive healthcare and building a community of clients that consistently strive to achieve optimal levels of health & wellness that improve their quality of life physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, & spiritually. 

Health & fitness isn't just a career for Chavanne; it's a lifestyle! That transcends to all of the people she is blessed and privileged to work with. She greatly values results and relationships and is often quoted as saying "You can have results or excuses; but you cannot have both.     Certified Trainer

    Patty earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Fitness from UNCC in 2005. She has been a certified personal trainer since 2001, earning certifications from ISSA, ACSM, and ACE. Patty is also a certified TRX instructor. While attending college, she began training clients in their homes. After graduating, Patty trained clients at Fitness Together studios in FL, NC, and MD. What she loves most about being a personal trainer is seeing a client reach a goal they once thought was impossible, whether the goal is weight loss, gaining strength, sport specific, or just being able to pick up their grandchild without pain.

     

    When Patty is not training clients at the studio, you can find her at the gym, running down the side of the road somewhere, at the park or the pool with her boys Henry and George, or indulging in her guilty pleasure, binging on Netflix shows.

    My love for fitness started 5 years ago, at age 42 when I received an alarming diagnoses from my doctor. For years to took my health for granted, and my bad habits finally caught up with me.  I needed to change my attitude and make lifestyle changes if I wanted to live a longer life.  I started bodybuilding to stay accountable because bodybuilding requires a lifestyle of regular exercise and good nutrition.  Within 6 months I was healthier, and became an undefeated National Level Figure competitor.  By age 47 I had won 3 Figure Overalls, 3 Masters Overalls, rate 5th at the North Americans, and at age 46 I won the prestigious Arnold Classic Master Figure Overall.  My health and wellness journey has motivated me to share what I’ve learned, inspire my clients, and assist them in understanding the value of regular, progressive exercise coupled with good nutrition, as well as coaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices.     Zach is a Certified Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).  He received his bachelors degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).  He went on to complete his Masters of Accountancy at UNCC.  While attending college, Zach started training clients at his home gym and realized how passionate he was about fitness and impacting people's lives.

    Zach is very passionate about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.  Zach stands by the motto, "You can't out train a bad diet."  He preaches balance and portion control.  Zach truly believes there is more to training than losing weight.  "It's about changing yourself, your mentality and your confidence.  You train to become stronger inside and outside of the gym."  Outside of training Zach, is a bodybuilder and is looking to compete in his first physique show in 2016.  "When I'm not training clients, I'm training myself.  I eat sleep and breathe fitness.  It's what I love."  When talking to Zach, you can see his enthusiasm and passion for nutrition and fitness.  He truly believes that fitness isn't just about building a physique.  It's about building a strong mind.  He plans on continuing his education in nutrition in the future.

    Fitness Consultant, certified personal trainer

    Certified as a personal trainer through WITS, Mary is enthusiastic about coaching others towards health and fitness as a trainer with Fitness Together. She has always enjoyed backpacking and was introduced to rock climbing at the age of 20. Mary then spent several years focusing on that passion and climbing in various locations throughout the U.S. as well as teaching and coaching at a climbing gym. Through her first hand experiences with rigorous outdoor activities, Mary has learned that developing strength and stamina produces high levels of confidence and capability for tackling difficult life events. Mary always strives to develop a creative and fun workout experience for her clients while focusing on helping them achieve their goals. She believes everyone is capable of great achievements but that they need energy and confidence to realize their potential, both of which can be developed through exercise and functional strength. Mary thoroughly enjoys teaching people how to stay physically fit and healthy, and is currently back in school studying Health Promotion.

    Carlos brings a wealth of knowledge to Fitness Together in the disciplines of physical fitness. His certifications include yoga, pilates, martial arts, and weight training.  Carlos’ background provides him with the tools necessary to work with all clients. It also allows him to introduce his clients to various styles of fitness training, which always keeps the workouts new and interesting. 

    Having a personality that people gravitate to makes Carlos’ chosen profession as trainer ideal!  His goal is to see people succeed at their goal.  His workouts are focused, varied, and professional with a twist of fun included!  “Always learning” is what Carlos prides himself on.

    Hi. I'm Joe and fitness is my passion. I started working out and lifting weights in the basement of our house when I was 12, and I can honestly say it has changed my life. It not only gave me the athletic skills to be competitive but it also gave me confidence and discipline that has transferred over into other areas of my life. I became interested in nutrition shortly after starting to work out, so I decided to major in Nutrition with a minor in Exercise Science. I graduated from Virginia Tech in the fall of 1994 with those degrees. Needless to say, I’m a big Hokie fan! I started personal training while in college and obtained certifications with NFPT, NASM and APEX Nutrition Systems. I left the field after several years to pursue a more stable career in corporate America, but I always missed it.

    I ended up at another Fitness Together just part time to once again do what I loved. After a three years there, I took a chance and left corporate America to open my own studio here in the Steele Creek area in 2008. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I once again get to do a job that I truly love. I get no greater satisfaction than helping someone to change their life and achieve their health & fitness goals.

    I’ve worked with clients that range in age from 13 to 78, and have worked with everyone from NFL football players to women battling osteoporosis. I would welcome the opportunity to help you reach your wellness goals. Come see us.

    Diane has been a personal trainer with Fitness Together since 2006 and was recently promoted to manager. She has a passion for fitness and leads by example. Diane earned her BS in education from Hofstra University where she was a competitive gymnast. She earned her MS in Sports Management and exercise physiology from New York University. Combining her competitive nature with a wealth of experience and a ton of energy, Diane motivates her clients to stick to their exercise program! When not in the studio, she is busy staying after her two teenagers, Carly and Nick!

    I am certified though ISSA and I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of West London in England.

    I have been at Fitness Together for 6 years and I enjoy helping people with their health and fitness goals.

    Chavanne brings a wealth of experience, energy, and passion to her Fitness Together Ballantyne team. Her work in health & fitness centers around proactive healthcare and building a community of clients that consistently strive to achieve optimal levels of health & wellness that improve their quality of life physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, & spiritually. 

Health & fitness isn't just a career for Chavanne; it's a lifestyle! That transcends to all of the people she is blessed and privileged to work with. She greatly values results and relationships and is often quoted as saying "You can have results or excuses; but you cannot have both.   • Patty Kessiah
    Certified Trainer

    Patty earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Fitness from UNCC in 2005. She has been a certified personal trainer since 2001, earning certifications from ISSA, ACSM, and ACE. Patty is also a certified TRX instructor. While attending college, she began training clients in their homes. After graduating, Patty trained clients at Fitness Together studios in FL, NC, and MD. What she loves most about being a personal trainer is seeing a client reach a goal they once thought was impossible, whether the goal is weight loss, gaining strength, sport specific, or just being able to pick up their grandchild without pain.

     

    When Patty is not training clients at the studio, you can find her at the gym, running down the side of the road somewhere, at the park or the pool with her boys Henry and George, or indulging in her guilty pleasure, binging on Netflix shows.

  • Dee Jackson
    Trainer, Nutritional coach

    My love for fitness started 5 years ago, at age 42 when I received an alarming diagnoses from my doctor. For years to took my health for granted, and my bad habits finally caught up with me.  I needed to change my attitude and make lifestyle changes if I wanted to live a longer life.  I started bodybuilding to stay accountable because bodybuilding requires a lifestyle of regular exercise and good nutrition.  Within 6 months I was healthier, and became an undefeated National Level Figure competitor.  By age 47 I had won 3 Figure Overalls, 3 Masters Overalls, rate 5th at the North Americans, and at age 46 I won the prestigious Arnold Classic Master Figure Overall.  My health and wellness journey has motivated me to share what I’ve learned, inspire my clients, and assist them in understanding the value of regular, progressive exercise coupled with good nutrition, as well as coaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices. I embrace a positive approach which is proven to promote lasting change.  Invest in your health. Looking good is a bonus

    Certified Trainer

    Zach is a Certified Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).  He received his bachelors degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).  He went on to complete his Masters of Accountancy at UNCC.  While attending college, Zach started training clients at his home gym and realized how passionate he was about fitness and impacting people's lives.

    Zach is very passionate about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.  Zach stands by the motto, "You can't out train a bad diet."  He preaches balance and portion control.  Zach truly believes there is more to training than losing weight.  "It's about changing yourself, your mentality and your confidence.  You train to become stronger inside and outside of the gym."  Outside of training Zach, is a bodybuilder and is looking to compete in his first physique show in 2016.  "When I'm not training clients, I'm training myself.  I eat sleep and breathe fitness.  It's what I love."  When talking to Zach, you can see his enthusiasm and passion for nutrition and fitness.  He truly believes that fitness isn't just about building a physique.  It's about building a strong mind.  He plans on continuing his education in nutrition in the future.

  • Mary Rose
    Fitness Consultant, certified personal trainer

    Certified as a personal trainer through WITS, Mary is enthusiastic about coaching others towards health and fitness as a trainer with Fitness Together. She has always enjoyed backpacking and was introduced to rock climbing at the age of 20. Mary then spent several years focusing on that passion and climbing in various locations throughout the U.S. as well as teaching and coaching at a climbing gym. Through her first hand experiences with rigorous outdoor activities, Mary has learned that developing strength and stamina produces high levels of confidence and capability for tackling difficult life events. Mary always strives to develop a creative and fun workout experience for her clients while focusing on helping them achieve their goals. She believes everyone is capable of great achievements but that they need energy and confidence to realize their potential, both of which can be developed through exercise and functional strength. Mary thoroughly enjoys teaching people how to stay physically fit and healthy, and is currently back in school studying Health Promotion.
