She kept saying how great her experience was and she was looking amazing after losing weight since starting training with a Fitness Together personal trainer.* I had gained weight because I had not worked out in a while and decided that I needed help.     From the moment I walked in the door I knew that something was different about Fitness Together. This was not just your regular gym. I was instantly greeted by smiling trainers and friendly clients who were warming up on a variety of cardio machines in the lobby. Even though I had been active in my younger years, I was nervous because it had been so long since I had exercised with any consistency, but my trainer was patient with me and was able to push me just enough so that I was tired at the end of my session but still left feeling a real sense of accomplishment. I knew I wanted to come back!

    Not much has changed since that first session. The trainers still greet me with a smile and the facilities are always clean and organized. I look forward to working out each and every time and now commit to three training sessions each week. I have built great relationships with my trainers who feel as much like family as my real family do. They really know how to program so that I am reaching my goals and constantly change my workouts so that I don’t get bored – I never know what to expect but each time I work out I surprise myself with what I can do.

    After just a few short weeks I was already feeling the benefits of my training* but it wasn’t until my son got engaged to be married that I truly reaped the benefits of personal training at Fitness Together. I knew I wanted to look great in my formal (sleeveless!) dress on the day of the wedding and my trainers really helped me to lose weight and tone up my arms so that I felt confident in my dress. The workouts have been vital but the nutrition guidance was also a key component to my results. In less than a year I was able to lose more than 25lbs., 7% body fat and more than 15 total inches, including 4 inches around my waist.*

    “Private training gets results, gimmicks don’t”.  I’ve always been skeptical about claims that sound too good to be true.  This tag line from FT sounded like typical marking fodder until I met Joe for my free introductory session.  Joe and all the trainers at Fitness Together Steele Creek have held up their end of the bargain through a professional approach based on proven results and hard work.  Each trainer I have worked with at FTSC has demonstrated in-depth knowledge in nutrition, exercise, recovery and on really bad days, even a little compassion.

    While I still have a long way to go, I am proud of my accomplishments so far.  I know that I could not have come so far so quickly without the team at Steele Creek.  I can really see that when my job requires extended travel.  I don’t push as hard in the hotel gym (if I make it there at all); I slide on my meals and skip cardio.  When I stick to Joe’s plan – and Ray’s routines – and if I am honest with myself, I see steady progress.

    The key – to me at least – is just that, steady progress.  This is a lifestyle change for me, not a project I need to finish before I get back to what I was doing before.  I can’t imagine a better team of trainers or a more supportive group of clients.  Thanks, to everyone at FTSC.

    I lost 100 pounds in 2005 through diet and exercise.  But after two years of the same one-hour elliptical workout, four times per week, I was bored and burned out.  But I was desperate not to regain any of the lost weight.

    I spent most of 2007 trying a variety of workout programs (group classes at the YMCA, DVDs at home, a boot camp), but nothing really inspired and motivated me.  In April of 2008, I was referred to Fitness Together by a friend.  I visited the Fitness Together Southend location and scheduled a free trial workout with Colin Johns, a personal trainer there.  I was up front with him about wanting a challenging and demanding workout that would push me to my limits and boy, did he deliver!  I’m happy to say that I’ve been a client of Fitness Together, and Colin Johns, ever since!

    While there are so many things that I love about Fitness Together, the most important is the workouts.  They are tough, intense, energetic and NEVER BORING!  I never know what to expect when I arrive for my workouts and that variety has kept me interested, focused, and returning for more.  The workouts are customized for my strength and ability level and I have my trainer’s complete focus during the session.  I also like the nutrition focus at FT.  I keep a food diary and review it periodically with my trainer.  Colin is always available for questions, ideas, concerns and will often give me weekly nutritional goals.  In addition, the studio manager, Sarah Perry, sends out weekly emails on a variety of fitness-related topics that are interesting and full of helpful tips.

    But I really enjoy the FT atmosphere.  When you arrive, there’s a friendly hello from everyone and there is always someone laughing.  It’s a warm, welcoming environment and a place where I feel comfortable.  It reminds me of Cheers – the type of place “where everybody knows your name”.

    Everyone's needs are different to successfully achieve a healthy lifestyle. Big gyms are not for me. Self-monitored programs are not for me. Group classes are not for me. But the private suites, personal training sessions and customized daily lifestyle program at Fitness Together are definitely for me.

    The FT environment is welcoming, comfortable, safe and clean. The facilities are professional and designed for serious workouts but not at all intimidating. The entire FT program is centered on my personal fitness needs and goals.

    The Trainers at FT are motivating, fun and caring. Their approach to fitness is interesting and fresh. Rarely do we repeat exercises. They always have new ways to work muscle groups keeping my training session interesting. In my greatest moments of willpower I would never push myself to the extent that the Trainers at FT push me. They also keep me accountable. While no one is perfect, I always think about "big brother" reviewing my food journal before I eat something that may not be ideal for weight loss and often put it back and make a wiser choice.   • Ali Harpp
    Exercise Scientist/Personal Trainer

    Ali has a passion for helping and guiding her clients to reach their health and fitness goals, which shows through her vibrant personality. Her love for fitness started as a young athlete which led her on to graduating from SUNY Plattsburgh for Fitness and Wellness Leadership. On top of her Bachelor's degree, Ali has earned certifications in Spin, Pilates and PiYo as well as her personal training certification through ACSM.

    As a young professional she is very passionate about continuously expanding her knowledge base and is always learning new ways to get optimal results with her clients. She sees a lot of value in getting to know and forming relationships with her clients as they take on their health journey together.

    Trainer

     Josh Carter has been with the FT team since Oct of 2013. 

    Josh was taught the importance of health and fitness at the young age of ten when his father took him to the Catawaba Valley YMCA. For years later the hobby grew into an obsession when his father purchased a weight set and set it up in the garage. Since then Josh has strived for fitness and in July of 2013 decided to share his knowledge and help others adopt life changes promoting a healthy mind, body and spirit. After gaining his personal training certification through ACE ( American Council on Exercise), Josh is now perusing more certifications.  Josh loves the atmosphere that FT provides because it gives him the ability to focus on each client individually. With 2 years under his belt here he has helped people of all sizes and ages move toward and reach their fitness goals. Josh thrives off the opportunity to change his clients’ lives just as he changed his own. He loves having the creative freedom to keep his clients motivated and excited about exercise.

    Owner, Manager, Trainer

    Scott is certified through NASM and has been an owner of Fitness Together since 2012.

    Scott is an excellent motivator! He will get you in the studio 3-4 times a week to hit your goals and get you on your way to a healthy life. His clients currently range from 25-59 so there is no age limit to when you can start.

    In his free time he is studying for a degree, enjoys being with his family, and enjoys football and boxing!

    Fitness Consultant, certified personal trainer

    Chris is a native of Arizona and studied Business Communication at Arizona State University. He has been living in the Charlotte area since 2006. Chris grew up playing basketball, football and running track and has had a passion for sports and fitness his entire life. After suffering two separate injuries, both requiring surgery, he saw the important role specialized training and research played in his own recovery. Chris then obtained an NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) personal training certification, hoping to help others recover from injuries and maintain a high level of strength and fitness. Chris loves helping people reach their personal strength and fitness goals, always learning through the process.

  • Mary Rose
    Fitness Consultant, certified personal trainer

    Certified as a personal trainer through WITS, Mary is enthusiastic about coaching others towards health and fitness as a trainer with Fitness Together. She has always enjoyed backpacking and was introduced to rock climbing at the age of 20. Mary then spent several years focusing on that passion and climbing in various locations throughout the U.S. as well as teaching and coaching at a climbing gym. Through her first hand experiences with rigorous outdoor activities, Mary has learned that developing strength and stamina produces high levels of confidence and capability for tackling difficult life events. Mary always strives to develop a creative and fun workout experience for her clients while focusing on helping them achieve their goals. She believes everyone is capable of great achievements but that they need energy and confidence to realize their potential, both of which can be developed through exercise and functional strength. Mary thoroughly enjoys teaching people how to stay physically fit and healthy, and is currently back in school studying Health Promotion.

  • Ryan Neely
    Health & Fitness Specialist; Lead Trainer

    Ryan began a discipline of working out as a young man which quickly evolved into him becoming a fitness fanatic. His dedication to living a healthy and fit lifestyle make it easy for him to motivate and encourage others to do the same. He has been with the team since May 2015.  Ryan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with his Masters in Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology concentration). He attended school to become a Physical Therapist but ultimately chose this path so he could impact clients taking proactive steps toward their healthcare. He believes in helping his client's meet their goals by improving their cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. His use of various different exercises ensure that each workout is different and never the same. He also believes in having a close relationship with his clients; as they are on their fitness journey together!

    Aaron Forinash
    Owner/Exercise Physiologist

    Aaron graduated from Marshall University in 2005 with a BA in Exercise Physiology and Adult Fitness. Upon graduating, he returned to his hometown, Beckley West Virginia, to work in various cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.  He is also certified through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and has spent time concentrating on sport-specific training for elite athletes.  Aaron joined the Matthews FT team in 2006, and was promoted to Branch Manager in late 2010 and took over as owner in 2015.  He enjoys designing unique and state-of-the-art exercise protocols specific to each clients needs.  Through advanced cardiac, strength and flexibility programs, he believes each client can improve the efficiency of their workouts and gain better results from their experience at Fitness Together.

  • Cody Clark
    Certified Trainer

    Cody has been part of the fitness industry since 2005.  He graduated from West Chester University with a B.S. in Kinesiology.  Cody has spent time being a Performance and Recovery Coach for West Chester University, Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He also has spent time in corporate health working as a Wellness Coordinator for Web MD.  Cody holds certifications in nutrition from AFPA(American Fitness Professionals Association) and Precision Nutrition.  Cody also holds certifications in training from NSCA as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and from FR as a Functional Range Conditioning Movement Specialist.  He holds other certifications as well and continues to strive for more education. 

    Cody wants the clients of Fitness Together Mooresville and future clients to understand that movement is key and if we can help you fix a movement pattern that can lead to reduced pain  which then leads to moving more which takes you to being more active.  Who wouldn't want to run around like a kid anymore with no pain and no fear of hurting themselves.

    Exercise Scientist/Exercise Specialist

    Lucas graduated from Appalachian State University in 2014 with a BS degree in Health Promotion and a Minor in Psychology.  In 2015 Lucas became a part of the Matthew's team.  He has always been actively involved in sports and fitness since a young age.  Since then, Lucas has obtained his Personal Training Certification through the WITS Program.  He continues to pursue certifications in similar fields to be the best, well-rounded trainer around.  He believes that incorporating barbell exercises along with more modern forms of exercise keeps the workouts fun and exciting!

Chris then obtained an NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) personal training certification, hoping to help others recover from injuries and maintain a high level of strength and fitness. Chris loves helping people reach their personal strength and fitness goals, always learning through the process.

  • Mary Rose
    Fitness Consultant, certified personal trainer

    Certified as a personal trainer through WITS, Mary is enthusiastic about coaching others towards health and fitness as a trainer with Fitness Together. She has always enjoyed backpacking and was introduced to rock climbing at the age of 20. Mary then spent several years focusing on that passion and climbing in various locations throughout the U.S. as well as teaching and coaching at a climbing gym. Through her first hand experiences with rigorous outdoor activities, Mary has learned that developing strength and stamina produces high levels of confidence and capability for tackling difficult life events. Mary always strives to develop a creative and fun workout experience for her clients while focusing on helping them achieve their goals. She believes everyone is capable of great achievements but that they need energy and confidence to realize their potential, both of which can be developed through exercise and functional strength. Mary thoroughly enjoys teaching people how to stay physically fit and healthy, and is currently back in school studying Health Promotion.

  • Ryan Neely
    Health & Fitness Specialist; Lead Trainer

    Ryan began a discipline of working out as a young man which quickly evolved into him becoming a fitness fanatic. His dedication to living a healthy and fit lifestyle make it easy for him to motivate and encourage others to do the same. He has been with the team since May 2015.  Ryan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with his Masters in Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology concentration). He attended school to become a Physical Therapist but ultimately chose this path so he could impact clients taking proactive steps toward their healthcare. He believes in helping his client's meet their goals by improving their cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. His use of various different exercises ensure that each workout is different and never the same. He also believes in having a close relationship with his clients; as they are on their fitness journey together!

  • Aaron Forinash Branch Manager Fitness Together Matthews North Carolina

    Aaron Forinash
    Owner/Exercise Physiologist

    Aaron graduated from Marshall University in 2005 with a BA in Exercise Physiology and Adult Fitness. Upon graduating, he returned to his hometown, Beckley West Virginia, to work in various cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.  He is also certified through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and has spent time concentrating on sport-specific training for elite athletes.  Aaron joined the Matthews FT team in 2006, and was promoted to Branch Manager in late 2010 and took over as owner in 2015.  He enjoys designing unique and state-of-the-art exercise protocols specific to each clients needs.  Through advanced cardiac, strength and flexibility programs, he believes each client can improve the efficiency of their workouts and gain better results from their experience at Fitness Together.

  • Cody Clark
    Certified Trainer

    Cody has been part of the fitness industry since 2005.  He graduated from West Chester University with a B.S. in Kinesiology.  Cody has spent time being a Performance and Recovery Coach for West Chester University, Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He also has spent time in corporate health working as a Wellness Coordinator for Web MD.  Cody holds certifications in nutrition from AFPA(American Fitness Professionals Association) and Precision Nutrition.  Cody also holds certifications in training from NSCA as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and from FR as a Functional Range Conditioning Movement Specialist.  He holds other certifications as well and continues to strive for more education. 

    Cody wants the clients of Fitness Together Mooresville and future clients to understand that movement is key and if we can help you fix a movement pattern that can lead to reduced pain  which then leads to moving more which takes you to being more active.  Who wouldn't want to run around like a kid anymore with no pain and no fear of hurting themselves.   

  • Lucas Gaddy
    Exercise Scientist/Exercise Specialist

    Lucas graduated from Appalachian State University in 2014 with a BS degree in Health Promotion and a Minor in Psychology.  In 2015 Lucas became a part of the Matthew's team.  He has always been actively involved in sports and fitness since a young age.  Since then, Lucas has obtained his Personal Training Certification through the WITS Program.  He continues to pursue certifications in similar fields to be the best, well-rounded trainer around.  He believes that incorporating barbell exercises along with more modern forms of exercise keeps the workouts fun and exciting!
