    Prior to starting Fitness Together, I didn’t realize how much my overall fitness had declined over the past 4 years. After getting married and starting a family, my focus on my health took a back seat to everything else. I’ve always tried to stay active whether it was playing basketball or working out at a gym, but would always end up finding myself falling off the wagon again and again.  So I looked up personal trainers in the area and found Fitness Together and figured I had nothing to lose (except weight).  

    I started Fitness Together weighting 270 pounds in January 2013 and by June 2013 I was down to 235 pounds.* This has been one of the most amazing life changing experiences I’ve ever had. I started working out 3 times a week. After I begin seeing the slightest improvement in my weight I just wanted more. I moved to working out 4 times a week and then 5. I started seeing my weight drop and muscle toning occur at the same time.

    I used to experienced lower back pain from the weight. I could no longer fit any of my clothes and rather than starting back working out, I just bought bigger clothes which enabled me to gain more weight (image that).

    The Fitness Together Trainer (Jon) that has worked mostly with me during my time here has been tremendous at structuring my workouts to help me reach my goal. He’s constantly staying on top of my eating habits and encouraging me to take control back over my life. Even on the days that I’m not motivated to go hard, he pushes me to give it all I have.

    All of the trainers here are dedicated to helping their clients reach their goal and have fun while doing it.

    I’m eagerly looking forward to continuing improving my health and never going back to where I was. I owe everyone at Fitness Together the biggest “Thank You” possible.

    I started training with FT South End in May 2009.  Since that time I have met my weight goal, reduced my dress size from a size 10 to a 4*, and my body toning is now noticeable.  But even more importantly, prior to my FT training I was feeling tired and sluggish.  After just a few days of training and improvement in my diet, my energy level increased substantially and has remained at a much higher level. 

    I train primarily with Colin and Taylor, and on occasions I have trained with each of the FT trainers.  All the trainers are friendly and eager to help me meet my training goals.  Although the training is tough, I enjoy the training sessions and appreciate the motivation I get from the trainers.  I like that the training routines are specifically designed for me and I like the variety in the routines.  I also like that my specifically designed training routine mixes in cardio work.  While I worked out prior to joining FT, I learned that I never pushed myself to the levels that FT has shown me I can handle

    I like the periodic assessments that are performed to evaluate whether or not I am meeting my weight goals and experiencing improvements in my endurance, strength, and flexibility.  It is nice to know that I am truly making progress.  I also like the periodic FT Tips that provide helpful information on exercise and nutrition.

    I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty decent athlete. I’ve competed in sprint triathlons, half marathons and other smaller distance running races for the past 15 years, and always maintained a good work ethic strength training at the gym. However, nothing quite prepared me for what Fitness Together would bring to my life.

    I first heard of Fitness Together about a year ago from a friend who just had a baby. She looked amazing. She was so happy with her results and raved about the trainers at Fitness Together. I had to give this a try – especially since I was going to be married in five short months! My goal was to look the best I ever have for my wedding day. I wanted to trim up and look toned and strong. So, I made the first appointment at Fitness Together and haven’t looked back! To say I am hooked is an understatement. I learned quickly there was something special at Fitness Together. From the initial consultation to my last session this past week I continue to be impressed with the staff. Let’s face it – you can have a nice, clean, state of the art facility but without the right trainer your success will be limited. Not the case here. They are (and continue to be) extremely professional, knowledgeable and incredibly down to earth, making it so easy to walk in every session, be myself and communicate my goals. Through consistent one-on-one training sessions where I was pushed (as requested) just outside my comfort zone and consistent healthy eating habits (with the watchful eye of my trainer) I lost 8 lbs., decreased my body fat by 4% and lost a total of 6 inches.* I felt so beautiful the day of my wedding --- goal achieved!!   

    I’ve been so happy with my results training at Fitness Together, so much so that I’ve continued training long after my wedding (last September). I adjusted my goal to be stronger in hopes that at some point that we’d be lucky enough to start a family.     My love for fitness started 5 years ago, at age 42 when I received an alarming diagnoses from my doctor. For years to took my health for granted, and my bad habits finally caught up with me.  I needed to change my attitude and make lifestyle changes if I wanted to live a longer life.  I started bodybuilding to stay accountable because bodybuilding requires a lifestyle of regular exercise and good nutrition.  Within 6 months I was healthier, and became an undefeated National Level Figure competitor.  By age 47 I had won 3 Figure Overalls, 3 Masters Overalls, rate 5th at the North Americans, and at age 46 I won the prestigious Arnold Classic Master Figure Overall.  My health and wellness journey has motivated me to share what I’ve learned, inspire my clients, and assist them in understanding the value of regular, progressive exercise coupled with good nutrition, as well as coaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices.     Zach is originally from Winston-Salem, NC. He moved to the Charlotte area almost 8 years ago to pursue an education within the exercise science realm. Several years later he had an NASM certification in personal training and a B.S. in Exercise Science from UNC Charlotte.

    He is more than equipped to help you achieve any of your health and fitness goals. He understands not everyone wants to walk across the Olympia stage; some just want to be able to play with their kids in the backyard. This individualism is what drives him. He respects the fact that everyone deals with different drawbacks in life and sometimes physical capabilities hinder the flow of a desired lifestyle. He loves to help, motivate and inspire others; that's his passion. He wants to give back to others and help them achieve what he has dedicated a quarter of his life to.

    Laurence joined the Fitness Together Southpark training family in 2008 from Melbourne, Australia. He has a degree in Biomedical Science from Monash University in Melbourne. He has also received a Level 3 Health & Fitness certification from the Australian Institute of Fitness, as well as the Fitness Together personal trainer certification.

    Prior to moving to Charlotte, Laurence was working as a gym and rock climbing instructor in Melbourne. Laurence has a unique training style that he likes to say comes from his background in swimming and triathlons, as well as the knowledge and drive instilled in him by his youth coaches. His moto in training is "practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect".

    Brandon received a BS in Nutrition and minor in Exercise science at Western Carolina University. He is certified through EXOS and has been in the personal training field for 3 years.

        I have been into fitness since a young age, as I played sports from youth up to college. My passion is to help people reach their goals and provide them with the knowledge and training that will enhance their lifestyle.  I have worked with individuals of all ages and love the setting here at Fitness Together. One of my main focus points is proper technique and posture, as I believe it is very important in preventing injury and negative stress.  In my free time I enjoy working out, spending time with family and friends, sports, and studying for further certifications.

    Rachel relocated to Charlotte (from Rhode Island) in January 2012. She completed her training program through the National Personal Training Institute and was hired at Fitness Together the same year. She has since become certified through NASM and is continuing to pursue other physical fitness certifications. In 2015 she took over as Office Manager and continues to train. Rachel became involved with personal training initially for personal growth but then fell in love with it and wanted to help others pursue healthy active life styles and feel the best they can. Rachel absolutely loves kids and pets, and living life to the fullest!

    Zach is a Certified Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).  He received his bachelors degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).  He went on to complete his Masters of Accountancy at UNCC.  While attending college, Zach started training clients at his home gym and realized how passionate he was about fitness and impacting people's lives.

    Zach is very passionate about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.  Zach stands by the motto, "You can't out train a bad diet."  He preaches balance and portion control.  Zach truly believes there is more to training than losing weight.  "It's about changing yourself, your mentality and your confidence.  You train to become stronger inside and outside of the gym."  Outside of training Zach, is a bodybuilder and is looking to compete in his first physique show in 2016.  "When I'm not training clients, I'm training myself.  I eat sleep and breathe fitness.  It's what I love."  When talking to Zach, you can see his enthusiasm and passion for nutrition and fitness.  He truly believes that fitness isn't just about building a physique.  It's about building a strong mind.  He plans on continuing his education in nutrition in the future.

    Hi! I'm Hannah Letts - passionate personal trainer and Purdue University Alum.  I was born and raised in Highland, Indiana where I played basketball and ran cross country throughout high school. I began my college career at Purdue in 2012 where I initially studied general health sciences, knowing I wanted to pursue a career in the health field but not sure exactly what. After starting to regularly exercise on my own, lift weights, and do my own research, I quickly decided to study Health and Kinesiology instead, and my interest in the benefits and science of fitness hasn't stopped growing since.  Additionally, I continued my education to earn my Master's of Public Health in one additional year. I completed my Master's degree in May 2017, and moved to Charlotte shortly after.

    I became certified as a personal trainer through ACE in January 2015, and I soon began working at Purdue's Rec Center. There I was able to work with clients of all ages, backgrounds, fitness levels, and goals and gained experience in individual, buddy, and small group training sessions.  As fitness and nutrition go hand in hand, I found myself also getting more and more interested in nutrition and became certified through NESTA as a Fitness Nutrition Coach. 

    Practicing a healthy lifestyle has and continues to have so many benefits for me, and I truly believe regular exercise can enhance one's quality of life. I am extremely happy and thankful to continue having the opportunity to positively influence and help others at Fitness Together. I believe in doing what it takes to regain your health and reach your goals, while enjoying and trusting the process - come train with me!

    Scott is certified through NASM and has been an owner of Fitness Together since 2012.

    Scott is an excellent motivator! He will get you in the studio 3-4 times a week to hit your goals and get you on your way to a healthy life. His clients currently range from 25-59 so there is no age limit to when you can start.

    In his free time he is studying for a degree, enjoys being with his family, and enjoys football and boxing!

     Josh Carter has been with the FT team since Oct of 2013. 

    Josh was taught the importance of health and fitness at the young age of ten when his father took him to the Catawaba Valley YMCA. For years later the hobby grew into an obsession when his father purchased a weight set and set it up in the garage. Since then Josh has strived for fitness and in July of 2013 decided to share his knowledge and help others adopt life changes promoting a healthy mind, body and spirit. After gaining his personal training certification through ACE ( American Council on Exercise), Josh is now perusing more certifications.  Josh loves the atmosphere that FT provides because it gives him the ability to focus on each client individually. With 2 years under his belt here he has helped people of all sizes and ages move toward and reach their fitness goals. Josh thrives off the opportunity to change his clients’ lives just as he changed his own. He loves having the creative freedom to keep his clients motivated and excited about exercise.

    Brandon received a BS in Nutrition and minor in Exercise science at Western Carolina University. He is certified through EXOS and has been in the personal training field for 3 years.

        I have been into fitness since a young age, as I played sports from youth up to college. My passion is to help people reach their goals and provide them with the knowledge and training that will enhance their lifestyle.  I have worked with individuals of all ages and love the setting here at Fitness Together. One of my main focus points is proper technique and posture, as I believe it is very important in preventing injury and negative stress.  In my free time I enjoy working out, spending time with family and friends, sports, and studying for further certifications.

    Rachel relocated to Charlotte (from Rhode Island) in January 2012. She completed her training program through the National Personal Training Institute and was hired at Fitness Together the same year. She has since become certified through NASM and is continuing to pursue other physical fitness certifications. In 2015 she took over as Office Manager and continues to train. Rachel became involved with personal training initially for personal growth but then fell in love with it and wanted to help others pursue healthy active life styles and feel the best they can. Rachel absolutely loves kids and pets, and living life to the fullest!

    My love for fitness started 5 years ago, at age 42 when I received an alarming diagnoses from my doctor. For years to took my health for granted, and my bad habits finally caught up with me.  I needed to change my attitude and make lifestyle changes if I wanted to live a longer life.  I started bodybuilding to stay accountable because bodybuilding requires a lifestyle of regular exercise and good nutrition.  Within 6 months I was healthier, and became an undefeated National Level Figure competitor.  By age 47 I had won 3 Figure Overalls, 3 Masters Overalls, rate 5th at the North Americans, and at age 46 I won the prestigious Arnold Classic Master Figure Overall.  My health and wellness journey has motivated me to share what I’ve learned, inspire my clients, and assist them in understanding the value of regular, progressive exercise coupled with good nutrition, as well as coaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices. I embrace a positive approach which is proven to promote lasting change.  Invest in your health. Looking good is a bonus

  • Zach Marzo
    Certified Trainer

    Zach is a Certified Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).  He received his bachelors degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).  He went on to complete his Masters of Accountancy at UNCC.  While attending college, Zach started training clients at his home gym and realized how passionate he was about fitness and impacting people's lives.

    Zach is very passionate about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle.  Zach stands by the motto, "You can't out train a bad diet."  He preaches balance and portion control.  Zach truly believes there is more to training than losing weight.  "It's about changing yourself, your mentality and your confidence.  You train to become stronger inside and outside of the gym."  Outside of training Zach, is a bodybuilder and is looking to compete in his first physique show in 2016.  "When I'm not training clients, I'm training myself.  I eat sleep and breathe fitness.  It's what I love."  When talking to Zach, you can see his enthusiasm and passion for nutrition and fitness.  He truly believes that fitness isn't just about building a physique.  It's about building a strong mind.  He plans on continuing his education in nutrition in the future.

    certified Personal Trainer

    Hi! I'm Hannah Letts - passionate personal trainer and Purdue University Alum.  I was born and raised in Highland, Indiana where I played basketball and ran cross country throughout high school. I began my college career at Purdue in 2012 where I initially studied general health sciences, knowing I wanted to pursue a career in the health field but not sure exactly what. After starting to regularly exercise on my own, lift weights, and do my own research, I quickly decided to study Health and Kinesiology instead, and my interest in the benefits and science of fitness hasn't stopped growing since.  Additionally, I continued my education to earn my Master's of Public Health in one additional year. I completed my Master's degree in May 2017, and moved to Charlotte shortly after.

    I became certified as a personal trainer through ACE in January 2015, and I soon began working at Purdue's Rec Center. There I was able to work with clients of all ages, backgrounds, fitness levels, and goals and gained experience in individual, buddy, and small group training sessions.  As fitness and nutrition go hand in hand, I found myself also getting more and more interested in nutrition and became certified through NESTA as a Fitness Nutrition Coach. 

    Practicing a healthy lifestyle has and continues to have so many benefits for me, and I truly believe regular exercise can enhance one's quality of life. I am extremely happy and thankful to continue having the opportunity to positively influence and help others at Fitness Together. I believe in doing what it takes to regain your health and reach your goals, while enjoying and trusting the process - come train with me!

    Owner, Trainer

    Scott is certified through NASM and has been an owner of Fitness Together since 2012.

    Scott is an excellent motivator! He will get you in the studio 3-4 times a week to hit your goals and get you on your way to a healthy life. His clients currently range from 25-59 so there is no age limit to when you can start.

    In his free time he is studying for a degree, enjoys being with his family, and enjoys football and boxing!

  • Josh Carter
    Trainer

     Josh Carter has been with the FT team since Oct of 2013. 

    Josh was taught the importance of health and fitness at the young age of ten when his father took him to the Catawaba Valley YMCA. For years later the hobby grew into an obsession when his father purchased a weight set and set it up in the garage. Since then Josh has strived for fitness and in July of 2013 decided to share his knowledge and help others adopt life changes promoting a healthy mind, body and spirit. After gaining his personal training certification through ACE ( American Council on Exercise), Josh is now perusing more certifications.  Josh loves the atmosphere that FT provides because it gives him the ability to focus on each client individually. With 2 years under his belt here he has helped people of all sizes and ages move toward and reach their fitness goals. Josh thrives off the opportunity to change his clients’ lives just as he changed his own. He loves having the creative freedom to keep his clients motivated and excited about exercise.
