    I have exercised all of my life; running, cycling, swimming, lifting weights and even trying a personal trainer. Struggling with unhealthy eating habits, quitting smoking, depression and the resulting weight gain had put me in a pretty dark place.

    That is the day I walked into Fitness Together of Waxhaw and asked for help. They welcomed me with the positive attitude and confidence I didn’t have. They created a plan that was perfect for me, and provided just the right amount of patience and drive. The changes began to happen and I was getting back to …ME!*

    I got engaged one week and started training with Fitness Together the next. I was well past my limit with the amount of weight I had gained in the last couple of years so I had already started running again and completed my first triathlon. It just wasn’t enough and I knew I needed help. I had fallen madly in love and was in the best relationship of my life so I had jokingly started referring to myself as “fat and happy”. But how happy could I really be if I was at the point of cutting the tags out of my pants so that no one (myself included) would see I was up to a size 12? After my first meeting with Chavanne, I knew I had just come face to face with the kind of trainer that would work just as I hard as I knew I could. I remember her telling me that she didn’t care about the number on the scale as much as she did about my body fat and skeletal muscle percentage. I didn’t even know (or quite honestly care) what skeletal muscle was but I committed to training twice a week anyway. In no time at all though, my actual weight was the least of my concerns. I experienced a complete and absolute mind shift about what was important and I truly believe that’s where our success lies. The freedom from being a Slave to the Scale was completely liberating. My nutrition and my physical strength were my new focal points. Chavanne was so involved in my nutrition when I first started that I would send her links to menus when I was going out to restaurants. She would not only help me decide what to eat, but tell me the reasons so that I could learn to choose myself. I quickly got to the point where I looked forward to every single workout and I became more and more proud of what I could accomplish with each passing day. By my Month 4 assessment, we had exceeded every single goal I set for myself, and we did it 3 months earlier than I planned. I’ve gone from ZERO pushups to 15 at my last count, I am constantly increasing the weight I can lift, I have improved my running pace by more than 2 minutes per mile, I have completed Spartan races I never would’ve even attempted before, my body fat is down 10%, and my skeletal muscle has increased by 8%. Oh, and that weight I stopped focusing on…..almost 30 pounds are gone, NEVER to return.* Those size 12 pants……replaced by a size 6.* I use the terms “we” and “our” when I talk about the success I’ve seen with Fitness Together because it really is a collaborative effort. I expect myself to work just as hard as Chavanne and her team work and we are in this fitness thing together. I’m so thankful I decided to look at personal training as an investment in myself and as a sort of preventative maintenance, rather than as a bill I had to pay in order to see results. That kind of thinking and lifestyle change is the only thing that really works and I am proof of that.

    At 51 years old I found myself as overweight and out of shape as I could be.  I was convinced that I was too far gone to fix the problem.  I decided I'd give it a shot and called Fitness Together.  I was overweight, completely sedentary and had a hip replacement.  Joe said that it didn't matter where I was when I started, just as long as I started.

    That's exactly what I did.  Now I've lost 125lbs and bunches of inches.*  I can do pushups now!

    Joe, Mike and Ray offered only encouragement and always made me feel my goals were attainable.

    Everyone has a weight loss story, I am sure mine is very similar to yours. I worked out for years while I lived in Minnesota and reached all of my goals. Then, I relocated to NC and let everything except the gym and my health, take priority. That was a huge mistake. I tried several gyms, but again, I had lost my focus and commitment which resulted in a 20 pound weight gain. Then, I found Fitness Together. Initially, even though I was working out 4 days a week, I still ate what I wanted and justified it. My before picture was taken in May and was truly my wake up call. All of a sudden things clicked, I entered the gym for my next session and pushed myself to the limit. When I left I was completely focused on my nutrition. By December, I had lost 22 pounds.*

    The Fitness Together team are phenomenal. My trainer would train me and tell me that if I wanted it I had to put the work in. We have laughed together, I have cried, they have pushed me until I thought I couldn't do it anymore, but I can and do!   • Tim Jennings
    Certified Trainer

    Tim is a certified personal trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and also holds advanced certification as a Nutrition Specialist.  Tim earned his Bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in NC.  However, it wasn't until he worked post cardiac rehab and physical therapy that he realized that this was his lifelong aspiration...helping people get healthy through fitness.  With over 10 years of experience, Tim shares that "the journey starts with fitness, however the real magic occurs when I see clients achieve what they once thought was impossible."

    Tim is a NC native, growing up in and now residing in Conover.  His hobbies include anything that puts his body to the test, competing in triathlons, cycling events and hiking in western NC.

  • Laurence Presti is the Manager at Fitness Together South Park.

    Laurence joined the Fitness Together Southpark training family in 2008 from Melbourne, Australia. He has a degree in Biomedical Science from Monash University in Melbourne. He has also received a Level 3 Health & Fitness certification from the Australian Institute of Fitness, as well as the Fitness Together personal trainer certification.

    Prior to moving to Charlotte, Laurence was working as a gym and rock climbing instructor in Melbourne. Laurence has a unique training style that he likes to say comes from his background in swimming and triathlons, as well as the knowledge and drive instilled in him by his youth coaches. His moto in training is "practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect".

    Laurence says "The best part about training clients is when they push themselves further than they ever thought they could!"

  • Bryan Wisdom, M.A.
    Owner/Operator

    Bryan has two decades of experience in the health and fitness industry. “I’m most excited about how well my staff and I implement functional training into each and every workout.” He received his B.S. in Kinesiology from San Diego State University and his Masters in Education from Loyola Marymount University. Bryan spent nearly five years training clients in biomechanics at the Egoscue Method exercise therapy company in San Diego, California. He was certified by the NSCA and has worked with NFL, NBA, and professional golfers. He has assisted clients with postural and biomechanical issues and uses exercise to restore the body to proper function. “For me training is about getting to know my clients, and finding the best way to help them attain their goals.”

    For almost a decade he has served the Mooresville community as owner/operator of Fitness Together Mooresville. During that time he has built a great staff-“All my team members go through a very specific training system learning posture and corrective movement. It’s great to see how much of an IMPACT our trainers make in our client’s lives.”  You may see him out on the lake or a trail doing things that make him come alive. His passions include surfing, wakeboarding, SUPing, trail running, and biking.

    Hello, my name is Jermaine Brown and I’m a certified personal trainer at Fitness Together. I've been a trainer for more than 15 years and have provided one on one training sessions as well as conducted group classes in an innovative personal training studio. I received my B.S. degree at the University of South Carolina where I played college football (starting as a walk-on and then earning a scholarship after one year) and competed in/won weight lifting competitions.   Among them was the University of South Carolina Bench Press Champion ('97 and '98), South East Regional Pound for Pound Champion ('97), and Columbia YMCA  Bench Press Champion ('99).  After relocating to Charlotte, NC, I continued in athletics and became a high school football coach. I've been coaching and training student-athletes for more than 15 years. In 2016, I coached at Charlotte Latin who went on to have an undefeated season (12-0) and STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, GO HAWKS!  I currently hold certifications from AAAI (American Aerobic Association International) and ISMA (International Sports Medicine Association) as a certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning trainer.

    My love for fitness started 5 years ago, at age 42 when I received an alarming diagnoses from my doctor. For years to took my health for granted, and my bad habits finally caught up with me.  I needed to change my attitude and make lifestyle changes if I wanted to live a longer life.  I started bodybuilding to stay accountable because bodybuilding requires a lifestyle of regular exercise and good nutrition.  Within 6 months I was healthier, and became an undefeated National Level Figure competitor.  By age 47 I had won 3 Figure Overalls, 3 Masters Overalls, rate 5th at the North Americans, and at age 46 I won the prestigious Arnold Classic Master Figure Overall.  My health and wellness journey has motivated me to share what I’ve learned, inspire my clients, and assist them in understanding the value of regular, progressive exercise coupled with good nutrition, as well as coaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices. I embrace a positive approach which is proven to promote lasting change.  Invest in your health. Looking good is a bonus

    My love of fitness started at age 14, after losing nearly sixty pounds of bodyfat. I realized how much better I felt living an active and healthy lifestyle rather than a sedentary one, and at nineteen years old, I became ACE certified. My goal for all clients is to build upon their athletic potential through weightlifting, high-intensity interval training, and low-impact cardio, all as means of lowering bodyfat percentage, increasing strength, and improving mobility. I have worked with all different ages, fitness levels, and walks of life.

    Daniel's primary objective is to ensure clients achieve their goals through a combination of perseverance, commitment, and dedication. Careful to tailor regimens structured around each individual’s needs, experience, and abilities, he has trained clients as young as 14 and as old as 85. Certified as a personal trainer through AFAA, Daniel has been a personal trainer since 1994. Himself a dedicated triathlete, he knows what it takes to reach and maintain optimal levels of fitness. Providing constant relevant and informed feedback, Daniel has the capacity to energize every session, with every client. Never one to be completely satisfied or complacent, he constantly augments his knowledge by keeping abreast of the latest developments in exercise physiology and always ensures his clients engage in challenging and varied routines. Daniel holds 2 B.A. degrees from UConn, and has post-baccalaureate experience in Business Administration. He is also a part-time musician and writer and a loving father of a twelve-year-old boy who is the treasure of his life.

    FITNESS CONSULTANT/LEAD TRAINER

    Ryan has been a fitness enthusiast since he began working out 9-10 years ago.  His dedication to living a healthy and fit lifestyle make it easy for him to motivate and encourage others to do the same.  He has been with the team since May 2015.   Ryan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with his Masters in Kinesiology )Exercise Physiology concentration).  He also has a background in Physical Therapy.  He believes in helping his client's meet their goals by improving their cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.  He also believes in having a close relationship with his clients; as they are on their fitness journey together!  His use of various different exercises ensure that each workout is different and never the same. Ryan continues to look for ways to improve himself as a fitness specialist and is pursuing his ACSM Exercise Physiologist Certification.

    Scott is certified through NASM and has been an owner of Fitness Together since 2012.

    Scott is an excellent motivator! He will get you in the studio 3-4 times a week to hit your goals and get you on your way to a healthy life. His clients currently range from 25-59 so there is no age limit to when you can start.

    In his free time he is studying for a degree, enjoys being with his family, and enjoys football and boxing!

    Tim is a certified personal trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and also holds advanced certification as a Nutrition Specialist.  Tim earned his Bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in NC.  However, it wasn't until he worked post cardiac rehab and physical therapy that he realized that this was his lifelong aspiration...helping people get healthy through fitness.  With over 10 years of experience, Tim shares that "the journey starts with fitness, however the real magic occurs when I see clients achieve what they once thought was impossible."

    Tim is a NC native, growing up in and now residing in Conover.  His hobbies include anything that puts his body to the test, competing in triathlons, cycling events and hiking in western NC.

  • Laurence Presti is the Manager at Fitness Together South Park.

    Laurence joined the Fitness Together Southpark training family in 2008 from Melbourne, Australia. He has a degree in Biomedical Science from Monash University in Melbourne. He has also received a Level 3 Health & Fitness certification from the Australian Institute of Fitness, as well as the Fitness Together personal trainer certification.

    Prior to moving to Charlotte, Laurence was working as a gym and rock climbing instructor in Melbourne. Laurence has a unique training style that he likes to say comes from his background in swimming and triathlons, as well as the knowledge and drive instilled in him by his youth coaches. His moto in training is "practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect".

    Laurence says "The best part about training clients is when they push themselves further than they ever thought they could!"

  • Bryan Wisdom, M.A.
    Owner/Operator

    Bryan has two decades of experience in the health and fitness industry. “I’m most excited about how well my staff and I implement functional training into each and every workout.” He received his B.S. in Kinesiology from San Diego State University and his Masters in Education from Loyola Marymount University. Bryan spent nearly five years training clients in biomechanics at the Egoscue Method exercise therapy company in San Diego, California. He was certified by the NSCA and has worked with NFL, NBA, and professional golfers. He has assisted clients with postural and biomechanical issues and uses exercise to restore the body to proper function. “For me training is about getting to know my clients, and finding the best way to help them attain their goals.”

    For almost a decade he has served the Mooresville community as owner/operator of Fitness Together Mooresville. During that time he has built a great staff-“All my team members go through a very specific training system learning posture and corrective movement. It’s great to see how much of an IMPACT our trainers make in our client’s lives.”  You may see him out on the lake or a trail doing things that make him come alive. His passions include surfing, wakeboarding, SUPing, trail running, and biking.

  • Jermaine
    certified Personal Trainer

    Hello, my name is Jermaine Brown and I’m a certified personal trainer at Fitness Together. I've been a trainer for more than 15 years and have provided one on one training sessions as well as conducted group classes in an innovative personal training studio. I received my B.S. degree at the University of South Carolina where I played college football (starting as a walk-on and then earning a scholarship after one year) and competed in/won weight lifting competitions.   Among them was the University of South Carolina Bench Press Champion ('97 and '98), South East Regional Pound for Pound Champion ('97), and Columbia YMCA  Bench Press Champion ('99).  After relocating to Charlotte, NC, I continued in athletics and became a high school football coach. I've been coaching and training student-athletes for more than 15 years. In 2016, I coached at Charlotte Latin who went on to have an undefeated season (12-0) and STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, GO HAWKS!  I currently hold certifications from AAAI (American Aerobic Association International) and ISMA (International Sports Medicine Association) as a certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning trainer.

    My love for fitness started 5 years ago, at age 42 when I received an alarming diagnoses from my doctor. For years to took my health for granted, and my bad habits finally caught up with me.  I needed to change my attitude and make lifestyle changes if I wanted to live a longer life.  I started bodybuilding to stay accountable because bodybuilding requires a lifestyle of regular exercise and good nutrition.  Within 6 months I was healthier, and became an undefeated National Level Figure competitor.  By age 47 I had won 3 Figure Overalls, 3 Masters Overalls, rate 5th at the North Americans, and at age 46 I won the prestigious Arnold Classic Master Figure Overall.  My health and wellness journey has motivated me to share what I’ve learned, inspire my clients, and assist them in understanding the value of regular, progressive exercise coupled with good nutrition, as well as coaching and supporting healthy lifestyle choices. I embrace a positive approach which is proven to promote lasting change.  Invest in your health. Looking good is a bonus

    My love of fitness started at age 14, after losing nearly sixty pounds of bodyfat. I realized how much better I felt living an active and healthy lifestyle rather than a sedentary one, and at nineteen years old, I became ACE certified. My goal for all clients is to build upon their athletic potential through weightlifting, high-intensity interval training, and low-impact cardio, all as means of lowering bodyfat percentage, increasing strength, and improving mobility. I have worked with all different ages, fitness levels, and walks of life.

    Daniel's primary objective is to ensure clients achieve their goals through a combination of perseverance, commitment, and dedication. Careful to tailor regimens structured around each individual’s needs, experience, and abilities, he has trained clients as young as 14 and as old as 85. Certified as a personal trainer through AFAA, Daniel has been a personal trainer since 1994. Himself a dedicated triathlete, he knows what it takes to reach and maintain optimal levels of fitness. Providing constant relevant and informed feedback, Daniel has the capacity to energize every session, with every client. Never one to be completely satisfied or complacent, he constantly augments his knowledge by keeping abreast of the latest developments in exercise physiology and always ensures his clients engage in challenging and varied routines. Daniel holds 2 B.A. degrees from UConn, and has post-baccalaureate experience in Business Administration. He is also a part-time musician and writer and a loving father of a twelve-year-old boy who is the treasure of his life.

  • Ryan Neely
    FITNESS CONSULTANT/LEAD TRAINER

    Ryan has been a fitness enthusiast since he began working out 9-10 years ago.  His dedication to living a healthy and fit lifestyle make it easy for him to motivate and encourage others to do the same.  He has been with the team since May 2015.   Ryan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with his Masters in Kinesiology )Exercise Physiology concentration).  He also has a background in Physical Therapy.  He believes in helping his client's meet their goals by improving their cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.  He also believes in having a close relationship with his clients; as they are on their fitness journey together!  His use of various different exercises ensure that each workout is different and never the same. Ryan continues to look for ways to improve himself as a fitness specialist and is pursuing his ACSM Exercise Physiologist Certification.

    Scott is certified through NASM and has been an owner of Fitness Together since 2012.

    Scott is an excellent motivator! He will get you in the studio 3-4 times a week to hit your goals and get you on your way to a healthy life. His clients currently range from 25-59 so there is no age limit to when you can start.

    In his free time he is studying for a degree, enjoys being with his family, and enjoys football and boxing!
