    Here I am again, on the elliptical doing my cardio. As my legs and arms warm up and I get into the rhythm of the machine, my mind starts to wander …….

    Just over a year and a half ago I was 51 and worried about my weight which had ballooned to just shy of 300 pounds. My knees hurt, my ankles hurt, I was short of breath, I snored, my cholesterol was sky high, my blood pressure was critically high, and my confidence in myself stunk. I was even worried that I would not be around in 5 years. I knew I needed to do something and had tried, but I lacked the drive and the knowledge to know what to do.

    A very good friend had found Fitness Together. She had only been going about 6 weeks, but you could already see great results. As I listened to her talk I eventually started thinking that maybe I’ll check this place out.

    So, with a lot of doubt I went in and was warmly welcomed by Joe Reed. We talked about nutrition and exercise and what I wanted to accomplish. He showed me around the brightly lit workout rooms with all their equipment. We did a trial session.

    Still not convinced, I came back for two more sessions before I finally was sure that this would be good for me. So, I set a personal goal of losing 20 pounds and started to work.

    The sweat was starting to run down my arms as I continued doing my cardio …..

    As I continued day dreaming, I remember some of the trainers. Alex, always pushing me to do “good stuff”, Jenny, who taught me to “love my Bosu”. Eric, who is a lot of fun to box with, and Liz, who has quietly challenged me to do more, helped me with proper form, knowledge and confidence. Besides these trainers, there is also, Joe and Mike. They all have their individual talents and help you to realize what you can really do. I found out quickly, that if you are committed and give an honest effort, they will give you 110% back.

    Wiping my face with my towel, my mind wanders again …..

    I have gone from 3 push ups to 75, I struggled with a 30 seconds plank and now have done one over 9 minutes. My pants waist size went from 48 to 34 and my shirts went from XX-Large to Large.* My cholesterol is in the normal low range, my blood pressure is in the low normal range and I have energy to spare! Oh, and now I don’t snore!*

    Best of all, my goal of losing 20 pounds changed to 40, then 50, then 75 …… and now my goal is 115 pounds, and I only have a few more to go.*

    I stop the elliptical and look around …..

    I moved to Charlotte last summer, and after realizing how wonderful southern cooking can be, I eventually realized I was not happy where I was physically or really even with my mood and spirit. I decided I needed a new routine- a lifestyle makeover so to speak. I figured a gym might be the way to go after receiving a flyer from a big gym down the street. I wanted to look up some other options though, and a search on the Internet kept returning this name: Fitness Together.
    I checked out both places. In the big gym I got a pricing rundown and a hard sell and the feeling that I would probably have to "go it alone" when it came to goals and workouts.  At Fitness Together I got an assessment, advice, a chance to have a trial run, and a feeling that I would not only get support and motivation, but the kind of accountability that is the greatest motivator of all for me.     And here I am, after working for about 7 months with some of the most knowledgeable, caring, and talented trainers I've ever had the good fortune to meet.     Chavanne brings a wealth of experience, energy, and devotion to her Fitness Together Ballantyne team. Her work focuses on proactive healthcare, total human optimization, and building a community of clients that consistently strive to achieve optimal levels of health & fitness that improve their quality of life physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, & spiritually. Health & fitness isn't just a career for Chavanne; it's a lifestyle! That transcends to all of the people she is privileged to work with. She greatly values results and relationships and most loves when people experience the joy and freedom of moving well. As the Studio Owner/Operator, she leads with the mindset of "Thin rulebook. Thick culture." She graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and minor in Dance Theater. Her professional certifications include: ACSM Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness, and RYT 200 Yoga Teacher certification. Her continued studies over that last decade include: Kettlebell training, Slight Edge Performance techniques, and Maximal Human Optimization.

    Heather has been in the fitness industry for many years.  She has earned her Certified Personal Training License from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising and Business from East Carolina University.  Her experience training clients ranges from group training, youth, and one-on-one fitness programs.

    Her passion is to help clients see and believe anything is possible with hard work and a happy heart. She enjoys teaching clients that success comes from within and that the human body is an amazing machine that can do great things!

    Heather and her husband reside in Mooresville with their three daughters.  She loves to strengthen her body and mind by strength training and reading.  She has competed in two National Physique Committee Bikini Competitions.

    My name is Patty and I’m originally from Colombia South America. The physics of the body have always attracted me since a young age and it is why I attended college to study physical therapy for two years. When I moved to the United States in 1999, I found my passion for fitness. I became a certified personal trainer in 2005 In Greenville SC where I lived for 12 years. I felt the need to help others to achieve their fitness goals, and I also started to compete in NPC competitions as a fitness competitor.  My goal is to motivate my clients, challenge them, and help them build the best version of themselves.  My focus will always be to help individuals achieve a balanced lifestyle that is within health and wellness guidelines so they can stick with it as part of their daily life, not just an event thing.

    Exercise Scientist/Exercise Specialist

    Alyssa relocated to Charlotte in January 2016 from Michigan. She graduated from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO with a BS in Exercise science in 2015. In college, Alyssa was a member of the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Ice hockey team.  While competing at the highest collegiate level, she set the school record for points scored in a career.   Training at the collegiate level exposed Alyssa to different strengthening techniques and awarded her with the knowledge to implement those techniques into the training regimens she designs.Currently, Alyssa is pursuing a BS in Nursing from Chamberlain University in hopes to become an orthopedic nurse.

    Lenny is the owner of Fitness Together in Waxhaw. He has a great passion for physical fitness and really enjoys the challenge and excitement of working with clients to help them reach their objectives. “Our client’s goals are my goals and I take great pride in that”. His approach to overall wellness, nutrition and body conditioning is exemplified in his motivation and dedication to fitness. “Working out is not just about your body, it’s an enrichment of the mind and soul as well”. Lenny is married and has two sons and recently moved to the Waxhaw area from New Jersey. He has multiple Personal Training certifications as well as being a certified Sports Nutrition Consultant.  Lenny played Division 1 soccer and earned his Bachelors degree from the University of South Florida. In his free time Lenny enjoys doing anything sports-related with his 2 boys.

On top of her Bachelor's degree, Ali has earned certifications in Spin, Pilates and PiYo as well as her personal training certification through ACSM.

    As a young professional she is very passionate about continuously expanding her knowledge base and is always learning new ways to get optimal results with her clients. She sees a lot of value in getting to know and forming relationships with her clients as they take on their health journey together.
