I've been a client of Fitness Together for about 13 weeks. It has been one of those life experiences that has been transforming both physically and mentally. I was at a point physically where, like so many clients, I knew I had to do something to change the path I was on. I was fortunate to run into Erin Mellinger at a craft show where she had set up and information booth and had a brief conversation with her about Fitness Together. She invited me to come in for a free assessment, and boy what an eye opener! The assessment told me that I was in much worse condition than I thought. There was only one thing to do, and I'm doing it! The changes that have taken place physically have been dramatic. My clothes don't fit now for another reason. They're getting too big!!! I'm beginning to tolerate how I look when I see myself in the mirror, and that means I feel better about myself mentally. Although the exercise I'm now engaged in is difficult at times, it is also enjoyable and essential to any lifestyle change; however, none of this would have happened without the nutrition aspect of Fitness Together. I think this is what separates F.T. from just an ordinary "workout" gym. Kara has been extremely helpful in presenting nutritional options and explaining how nutrition and exercise work hand in hand. The healthy recipes have benefited both myself and my wife who is also dropping weight. It has also made meal planning easier for both of us.

Of course, none of this would matter without the personal trainers of FT., those people you love to hate and hate to love. They give you undivided attention to your workout, monitor the progress, push when needed, and ease up when necessary. They are always encouraging and take positive reinforcement to another level. F.T has given me renewed levels of energy, sound sleep at night, taken my digestive system to a new and improved level and given me an opportunity, under my doctor's care, to get off of my cholesterol medication and avoid those aching muscles that result from it.*

My trainers make me responsible for my progress and make me accountable for the minutes I put in on training sessions and cardio. Accountability, for me, is a good thing and an essential to my success. The exercises are variable and never overwork one particular muscle group. There's always time to recuperate. The scheduling is flexible and tailored to the client's availability which eliminates the excuses for "slacking". These are some of the reasons I am glad that I made the decision to visit Fitness Together. I’ve been a client of Fitness Together for eight months. Overall, I feel so much stronger and capable – I began this program to lose weight, but I am proudest of the strength I’ve built. I’m not scared to tackle exercises because now I know what my body is capable of.

The trainers really customize my workout to accommodate injury, which has limited exercises I am able to perform, and also required a careful progression to build strength. They have been dedicated to my success and are cheering me on each step of the way. The nutrition program has really helped me be accountable as well, changing my eating habits has really been key to my weight loss: over 30lbs so far.

While FT is an investment, I am so happy I began training here, the support has been unbelievable and I couldn’t have done it without them!

I started going to Fitness Together on June 23, 2015 to change my eating habits and lose weight. I did not want to diet, but rather establish better eating habits for long-term weight loss and get my body in better shape. I am 65 years old and at the time I started weighed 221 pounds. My blood pressure was around 128 over 78 and I did not have a lot of energy and did not feel good about my overall health. The nutrition program, led by Kara and Lindsey, started with a very comprehensive interview to find out my dietary habits, calorie intake and current exercise program. With the information Kara and Lindsey gathered, they set-up a daily caloric goal, provided very helpful suggestions for protein, fat and carbohydrate intake. Their knowledge of nutrition was amazing and by explaining the purpose of having the proper balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates and the time of day you take them in, they have helped me lose a large amount of weight. The best part is I am not starving myself and do not feel like I am dieting, but have changed my habits to gain long-term health. The results to this point have been great! In four months, I have lost 27 pounds, around six percent body fat and have lowered my blood pressure to 118 over 72.* I feel better, have more energy and am confident that I have changed my eating habits for a healthier life. Kara and Lindsey are responsible for this change and I cannot thank them enough. I am continuing to go once a month for follow-up meetings and the great encouragement and knowledge they provide. As a result of my FT training, I have become more disciplined in my exercise and nutrition. I have learned to make better choices. The trainers are dedicated to making the FT experience worthwhile. After a significant ankle injury, followed by months of inactivity, poor eating habits and weight gain, I was becoming increasingly more frustrated with how I felt about myself, which had then started to impact my job and my family. At that point, I knew I needed a lifestyle change that would prevent me from spiraling downward even further. Fitness Together has truly changed my life. I came here not knowing what to expect. I was hoping for some guidance in improving my life. What I got was much, much more.

Over the past 5 or so years I had seen incremental weight gain each year and more recently noticed loss of strength with every day activities.  I saw and advertisement on TV for Fitness Together, so I stopped in to get more details.

I was pretty committed although scheduling was difficult due to my work schedule long hours and being on call (I am an R.N. working in surgery) so progress was slow at first, but I began to see results. Joining Fitness Together has truly been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Prior to becoming a client, I was someone who never put much effort into exercising, and my eating habits were far from healthy. The years of inactivity and poor diet had taken its toll, and it was obvious. I was over-weight and out of shape. I took a good look at myself, and I realized that I had to make a choice. I could either continue on the path that I was on, or I could make a real commitment to a healthier way of life. I chose to be healthy.

 

I decided to join Fitness Together because they are so much more than a traditional gym. The certified personal trainers put together work-outs and cardio programs that are specifically designed for me. I also have the opportunity to work with Kara, a registered dietician, who is extremely knowledgeable about health and nutrition. Each one has a passion for fitness that is evident through the energy and enthusiasm that they each bring to every session. They are all professional, and they each have a thorough understanding of the proper techniques needed for each specific exercise. They provide encouragement, praise and humor, and they are also excellent at motivating me so that I can push beyond my perceived limits. They continue to challenge me during every work-out, and I know that they truly want to see me succeed and reach my fitness goals, The changes I have seen since joining Fitness Together have been great. The results I’ve had at FT have dramatically changed my life for the better. I became a client at Fitness Together about 18 months ago.  Arthritic joints and joint replacement surgeries had left me with poor muscle tone.  My primary goal was to strengthen the muscles and take the stress off of the joints.  My feeble attempts at strength training at home were inconsistent and it seemed that the third set never happened!

The trainers at Fitness Together are awesome!  Not only are they professional and knowledgeable, they all have great personalities and keep the sessions fun.  They continue to come up with new ways to challenge you and keep you motivated.  Who knew there were so many different ways to exercise the same muscles?  And they hold you accountable.  The third set always happens!

My muscle strength is much improved since I began training here.  My shoulder pain is gone and my knees rarely bother me.  I’ve lost weight too (which also takes some stress off of the joints), and I’m down two dress sizes.

I like the coaching – it is motivating and gives me expertise in an area I certainly have little. 6:30 am two times a week is hard at times, but the discipline is solid for me. After six months I am stronger and firmer.
