I was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in June of 1990. I graduated from Monmouth University in 2013 in which I was on a full athletic scholarship. I left Monmouth as part of the school’s most winningest class, and the all-time leader in games played in addition to receiving both my Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education, as well as my Master’s degree in Business Administration. After completing my degrees, and my basketball career, I moved back home to Harrisburg and immediately started working at my family’s training facility as a Skill Development Coach under my dad, Scott Singer, founder and director of Next Level Basketball Performance Academy.
I have grown up in the world of sports, my grandparents use to own a sporting goods store providing all the local teams and athletes with their uniforms, gear and equipment. Unfortunately, they held to sell the business as the larger corporations began popping up. My dad then opened up his own strength and conditioning facility in 2004, which was home to a lot of local athletes and general fitness clients, and of course my own athletic development. In 2012, things came full circle and, with a lot of help from my mom Lori, my older sister Jessica, and many others, our family was fortunate enough to purchase the building that was home of my grandparents’ sporting goods store in the 80’s and 90’s, and put in our own training facility, Singer’s Athletic Training Complex, home of Power Train Sports and Fitness and Next Level Basketball Performance Academy. My uncle is now a Sports Psychologist working with athletes to improve the mental side of their game, including Division I and Professional level teams and athletes. So it is safe to say it is a family affair.
In June 2018 I made the decision to move away from home, get outside of my comfort zone and away from the brutal winters of the north, and that’s how I ended up in Clearwater, Florida. I knew I wanted to pursue my passion for nutrition, fitness, health and wellness, and I found a job working for a fresh meal preparation company called Fitlife Foods, located in Safety Harbor. I completed my Precision Nutrition Level I Coaching Certification in March of 2018, and became a certified Wellness Coach through Fitlife Foods in July of 2018 and as I got acclimated to the area and my new schedule, I began looking for additional opportunities to continue expanding on my passion and knowledge of nutrition, and that is when I found JD at Fitness Together. I was fortunate enough to join the team here as the Director of Nutrition in early July.
I grew up in a diehard Penn State family and I will definitely miss my favorite fall weekends in State College, PA, tailgating and cheering on Penn State Football with the best family and friends. However, I am very excited for my new chapter in Florida, and specifically here at Nutrition and Fitness Together Belleair. I look forward to working with each of you to help maximize those workouts and coach you along your personalized journey of health and wellness.
