What made you decide to seek out personal training?

I have been struggling with my weight my whole life. In 2011 I decided to get healthy and really change my lifestyle. After losing about 30 pounds with only changing my diet I was ready to start working out. I wanted to do weight training but having very little experience and being afraid of injuries I started working with a personal trainer.
 

Did you try other health clubs or fitness programs?

Yes, I started out at LA Fitness.
 
Why did you choose Fitness Together?

I met Joseph DeYoung at LA Fitness and when he transfered to FT I followed him there. Weight training has been a bit challenging for me because of an old hip injury and later a hip replacement. I trusted Joe since he has the experience and knowledge to be able to deal with these issues.
 
What was the hardest habit to break?

Diet has always been the hardest part for me. Working out keeps me motivated to eat healthy. If you don’t eat right it’s kind of a waste of time going to the gym.
 
What do you enjoy the most about Fitness Together?

Joe DeYoung! He always has a plan for me how to reach my goals and he keeps challenging me with new fun programs.

Before joining Fitness Together, what were your biggest health and fitness concerns? 

I didn’t know how to do weight training in an effective and safe way, especially with the hip problem.
 
What have you accomplished since beginning?
 

I have become a lot stronger and lost another 30 pounds! I have come to enjoy weight training and I now have the knowledge to work out on my own too.
 
Has Fitness Together met your expectations?

Yes! It’s a clean and safe place to work out. The trainers are very professional, personal and friendly. You get results and they keep you motivated!


What advice would you give to a new client

Trust your trainer, eat healthy and work hard!

Why did you seek out personal training?

– I was overweight and out of shape.  I was turning 50 and didn’t want to be dealing with the weight loss in my 70’s.  It was time to take on the challenge so I could enjoy life.

 

Why did you choose FT?

– I had tried other fitness clubs before and tried the personal training.  I didn’t like large setting and felt lost in the club, left to my own devices.  A friend from Wisconsin told me about FT.  I looked around in my area and found the studio. After my initial meeting with Amanda, and meeting Brianna – I knew this was the place for me. 

 

How did it compare to the other things you’ve tried?  What do you enjoy most?

– I really enjoy the private setting.  My trainer was always in a great mood and ready for my session.  Though she had a full schedule of clients, she made me feel like I was her only one.  It felt more like a workout buddy; a friend rather than a trainer. 

 

What was the hardest thing to change and how did you overcome this?

– Diet was the hardest to tackle.  I used the Vitabot system for a while, until my life became really busy.  It helped me to understand the food I was putting into my body.  I realized how hard I had to work to lose the weight, and eating the bad stuff became less acceptable.

 

After 6 months, what have you accomplished?  How has this impacted your life?

– Lost 40 lbs.  Back pain is better; blood pressure is lower – from 140/90 to 120/80.  Cholesterol is better - from 220 to 170.  More energy makes my job easier.  As a landscaper, having more energy is important when you are working hard outside all day long.  If I had the same client load last year as this year in the shape I used to be in – I would have had a heart attack a long time ago!  My doctor is very pleased.

 

Did Fitness Together meet or exceed your expectations?

– Exceed – My workouts are never boring.  I actually enjoy coming here.  It’s my "me" time.  No cell phone, no worries, no one can bother me.  I get 1 hour a day to escape the world and focus on me.  The staff makes me feel welcome and important. 

 

What advice would you give to a new client?

 – Be honest about where you are and what you want.  There can be no secrets between you and your trainer.  When I came here, I let everything go.  I gave myself over to FT and said, “This is what I want to do, you do what you will with me.”  And it worked. 

 

Would you suggest our services to others?

– Yes, and already have.

Did you try other health clubs or fitness programs?

- I tried curves for five years.  It was great for a while but I felt like I needed more. 

Why did you choose Fitness Together?

- A very compelling mailing caught my interest as well as a convenient location, but most importantly it was the private one on one setting.

What was the hardest habit to break?

- Diet was the hardest thing to change.  I love the computer nutrition program.  It has really opened my eyes, not just to calorie count but to total nutrition.

What do you enjoy the most about Fitness Together?

- My trainer is wonderful.  I love how he continually changes up the routine so I never get bored.  All the staff is so supportive and friendly.

Before joining Fitness Together, what were your biggest health and fitness concerns?

- For me, it was weight loss, toning, and a bad shoulder.  I was also  concerned about my core strength.  I had major surgery to remove cancer from my colon, and it left my core weak.  When I came here I couldn’t lift my feet off the ground, now I can do 20 leg raises.

After three  months, what have you accomplished?

- I have lost 22 lbs.  My balance is better and I have better stamina.  I feel so healthy, relaxed,  and full of life. 

What advice would you give to a new client?

- Do it!  Do the whole program.

What made you decide to seek out personal training?

- I had tried personal training before, but did not feel that I was  being pushed enough.  The results weren’t there at the other places.

What else have you tried? 

 - I tried health clubs and personal training.  The workouts were all the same at the other clubs and the programs were too basic; they didn’t fit my needs. 

Why did you choose Fitness Together?

- I received the letter in the mail and decided to give it a try.  Plus, my back and knees were starting to give me problems. 

What was the hardest habit to break?

- Portion control!  Managing my diet has been the most challenging.

What do you enjoy the most about Fitness Together?

- I like that each workout is different.  I like to come to Fitness Together for guided weight training and I do cardio on my own. 

Before joining Fitness Together, what were your biggest health and fitness concerns?

- Bad knees and back.  High cholesterol and genetic high blood pressure.

After seven months, what have you accomplished?

- I have lost 38 pounds since the first day starting. My core, back, and knees are all stronger.

Has Fitness Together met your expectations?

- Yes, it has!

What advice would you give to a new client

- It’s not just about what the trainers do.  It’s a piece in the big puzzle.  The client must adjust their diet and lifestyle to see the results.
