Lose 100 lbs. In Just 4 Weeks!!
Posted By: Laura Rosalie on 01/20/2012
Hello everyone….and this is Laura once again. I hope you all had a very nice Holiday Season and are looking forward to a wonderful 2012.
So…did the headline catch your eye? Can you believe that??
This is the time of year when many people make a New Year’s Resolution to eat healthier, exercise more, and lose weight. It’s also the time of year when all the gimmicks are advertised; since most people nowadays wants instant gratification in “everything”, losing weight is no different. Everyone wants that “magic pill” that will allow them to lose weight and get toned and fit without doing much of anything.
Last week I saw a huge ad in the local newspaper entitled “I Can Make Anyone Lose Weight!” Then I looked at who was making this claim. It is a local health care practitioner that owns his own practice in my town.
My first thought was “How dangerous is this man?” I then read the ad and it was advertising an hour-long weight loss seminar to be held at his business that was, supposedly, going to show the participants how they can lose weight without any gimmicks.
Now, I know that many physicians are branching out into fields that are not their own. I definitely have no quarrel with any physician that actually encourages their patients to live a more fit and healthy lifestyle.
This ad also had testimonials from some of his patients. One indicated “I lost 22 pounds in the first three weeks alone!”
Sounds amazing, right? Well…I’m here to tell you that there is no safe, healthy way to lose 22 pounds in 3 weeks. A healthy weight loss is 1 to 1 ½ lbs. per week – not 7 or more. And, if it’s true that this person actually did lose that much weight, no reputable physician would condone such a radical weight loss.
In any case, I decided to use the magic of the internet to find out more about this amazing weight loss “magic pill”. It seems that the good doctor is a distributor for this drink made from some exotic-sounding fruit that sells for about $30 a bottle. This seminar is probably just a sales pitch for some multi-level marketing program, selling these drinks and related products.
Supposedly these products made you healthier and also allow you to lose weight.
Do they work? I have no idea; but the only way I would pay $30 for a bottle of juice is if it “guaranteed” to make me look 10 years younger; and maybe not even then.
I’m sure that there will be plenty of people packing that seminar, only reading the ad to see that they can “magically” lose weight and become healthier without putting in much work. Sadly, that’s the way of the world at the present time.
Losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle should not be a New Year’s Resolution; it should be a conscious decision to better your life and should not only be relegated to the beginning of the year. And, unfortunately, it doesn’t come out of a juice bottle. It takes dedication and commitment and the understanding that nothing worth having is easy.
Just this morning a fairly-new client came over to show me her weight chart. She has slowly but surely been losing weight and was so excited over her progress. She doesn’t expect miracles, but can see that her hard work is paying off. She comes in early for every workout session with a smile on her face and is excited to work through whatever her trainers throw at her. I can tell you that she will definitely get the results that she’s looking for because she works hard for those results. Those are the type of clients we want.
So, as you begin to think about living your life healthier and happier in the New Year, believe half of what you hear and little of what you read. And, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
