A little over a year ago, I was part of a 30-person 'boot camp' program... I was struggling to keep up with the group, wasn't paying attention to form, and ended up with a torn ACL.  Eight months and an extra 15 pounds later, a friend told me about Fitness Together in Severna Park.  I was at the point where I was scared to exercise or run, afraid that I might cause further injury.  I was overweight and depressed, which left me without the energy for my kids and demanding job.  I didn't know where to start or how to get the nerve up to try and get back into a fitness routine.  I gave Jim Cleveland a call at FT and the journey began.

In a one-on-one training environment, with a certified trainer, I knew that the exercises I was doing were safe and that my trainer was paying close attention to my form to prevent injury.  I learned how to run for weight loss on the days that I wasn't in the gym, using my heart rate as a guide to burn fat.  From Nutrition Together, I learned that my lack of eating throughout the day and nighttime binges in the evening had my metabolism out of whack. 

In the six months since starting with FT, I've not only lost 10 pounds, 10 inches, and went from 24.7 to 17.5% body fat, but I've also trained for and completed a marathon.   I work with Jim to set new goals every few months, and I know he's there to help me achieve them every time.  Right now, I'm focused in losing a bit more weight in hopes of improving my run time for another marathon. Last year at this time, I would never have thought that this would be possible...

Rachel Neal

Last September, Rachel Neal weighed 170 pounds. As she kept trying to live the life she always wanted, she realized what was missing from her plan: accountability. After trying everything from the gym and fad diets to exercise gimmicks, she started using Fitness Together, a personal training studio where she got to work one-on-one with Jim Cleveland,  fitness coach and was held accountable for making it to every session. Rachel also used Nutrition Together, an online accountability system to monitor what she ate.
 
After months of working hard, Rachel completed a life-long dream: running in a local 5K. Shortly after, she completed a local Zooma 10K and trained for the Annapolis Ten Miler (which was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene).  She remained undaunted and continued to train for her first half-marathon and on October 15, 2011, she successfully crossed the finish line at the Baltimore Half-Marathon!  A month later on November 19, 2011, she successfully completed her second half-marathon in Annapolis, Maryland! Rachel now lives a full and energetic life and looks forward to someday running a full marathon!

No more chronic pain, fatigue and anxiety.  Thanks for giving me my life back!

I began suffering with hip pain in 2001.  Medical examinations showed no obvious, correctible cause of the pain.  In 2006, a bone density scan showed weakness. I continued with the recommended medicine and therapy but nothing stopped the pain.  In 2008, I injured my shoulder – lateral tear and went back into therapy and treatment.  After 3 surgeries, I was slowly losing the battle with pain, fatigue and depression.  The traditional treatments of medicine and surgery did not heal or reverse the problem.  Instead, I began to gain weight and was soon experiencing back pain, digestion problems and diminished mental capabilities from the medication and reduced physical activity!!

Working out with Fitness Together and a regimented vitamin and mineral supplementation program, the pain, fatigue and anxiety are gone!  I have been given another chance!  I am doing things that I have not been physically capable of doing for years now.  My weight and figure are those of a 30 year old again and my brain power is amazing!

Fitness Together helped me realize the strength in my body.  Best confidence boost I have ever experienced.  While on this program I remain PAIN free!!
