Mercato del mare
Mercato del Mare, the neighborhood’s only fish market, is the project of Elizabeth Ventura and Keri Cassidy, friends and longtime North End residents. Liz and Keri are committed to selling fresh, high quality seafood in a friendly, welcoming environment.
The market has a warm, European feel and is filled with fresh wild caught and local fish. Cod, haddock, sole, and monkfish all come from George’s Bank. Much of the shellfish is from Cape Cod. Haddock is popular in this old neighborhood, as are razor clams.
We hope this has started you thinking about cooking and eating some great fresh seafood. If you’re like many who are intimidated by buying and cooking fish, no worries as Liz and Keri are always there to help you with cooking tips and recipes.
